I was at the game on Sunday and lucky enough to be sitting in the directors box. The anger towards SP was so clear with supporters screaming at him to sign a striker and he could clearly hear it.

Likewise supporters were shouting at Roy to bring on Wickham and Meyer as soon as Chelsea scored and he just stood there biting his nails...

Who’s to blame... both!

What must Roy be seeing in the training that 20 odd thousand fans on a match day are not seeing, that makes him keep the faith with this shocking system. Surely he needs to start with Wickham now even if he only lasts half a game. At least we would have wilf in his best position and we could go at the opposition from the first whistle.

Where was this anger for SP to sign a striker coming from? The Stephenson’s Lounge seats, the Glaziers seats section, the family section or way over atvthe Holmesdale which most would’ve heard at that level?

The FA Cup game against Grimsby on Saturday, is the equivalent of England v Iceland, and we know what happened there. The manager needs to get this right and play a decent squad to absolutely batter them.

At the moment I blame both parties, the board for not getting the transfer policy right and Roy for not picking a team to win a game. It’s been well documented that he leaves substitutions till it’s too late. If he leaves it till 10 minutes from time before Connor Wickham comes on how on earth can he influence a game or get match sharpness.

We can’t piss about anymore...

What makes you think Roy will change what he’s been doing for ages? Last year we and he got away with it with a very good return of points, but it was noticed by me the frustrating methods on the field and touch line, but if the results are happening then for a club like us everything else is okay. This was always going to happen if results weren’t that good or failure. The other issue is very disappointing home performances because of instructions but better away results.

No. He would have his back to goal and doesn't have the physical presence to hold the ball up.

Neither does Zaha, but I think townsend would work harder in that role. And will shoot from distance, whereas zaha gets crowded out trying to beat 3 players.

Which means neither are suitable in that role. I agree totally about having a pop from distance, working the opposition's keeper is crucial in getting the crowd involved - and who knows, it might even fly in!

This is true about wickham.
If he tires and comes off we then resume to type as against chelsea.
At least the opposition will set up differently and maybe not be able to play against our to type set up due to who they started with.

It surprises me that Roy is being let off so easily for the Chelsea performance.
Pulis and Allardyce are noted for being defensive and negative coaches but I don’t recall them sending a Palace team out like the one against Chelsea.
Pulis used Jerome and Chamakh at the front with Bolassie and Puncheon down the flanks.
Allardyce used Zaha, Benteke and Townsend in the front positions.
Against Chelsea we had 10 behind the ball with Zaha as an ineffectual front man.
In the Brighton game at 2-0 they went down to 10 men during the first half.
Roy didn’t seek to capitalise on the extra man advantage until well into the second half when he threw on an extra forward.
He seems to see success as a narrow defeat and keeping the score down.

I wish this forum had a "like" tab. Top post, absolutely spot on. Hodgson is negative in all aspects. I note, as in his time with England, he spends a lot of time looking at the patch of grass by his shoes and looking over to RL for advice. Well past the sell by date I'm afraid.

If RH does that then Eagles good defensive record will go to pot and we will get relegated.

I's the ones who ship loads of goals who invariably go down.

I would be surprised if RH is not more successful this time in getting 2 strikers aboard.

IRWT - In Roy we trust...…

Well if he puts out an under strength side against Grimsby and we go out like we did to Borough in the League Cup,expect the s***e to hit the fan. This is the perfect opportunity for Connor to start, if he doesn’t do against Wolves midweek.

I suspect he will give some fringe players a chance against Grimsby.

If we are defeated, perhaps supporters will not be too deflated in the circumstances given that we accept that the PL is the priority and with our squad we cannot risk injuries to key players in such a game.

Grimsby are a form team winning 6 of their last 8 games.

If we are defeated,I think the fans will go ape s***! I didn’t see too much of the Premiership priority against Chelsea on Sunday, it was abysmal.

I happen to believe that this will be the reaction of supporters if Hodgson plays key players and Zaha, for instance, gets injured and is out for a while.
