I don't like to compare to other 'similar' clubs, as circumstance, luck plays into it, but i really feel that out of the brighton's, wolves, watfords, leicester (minus that year) we are trailing.

7 years in the prem and if we get relegated this season, nothing but a huge wage bill to show for it and a massive exodus.

Watford's 2nd goal, Pererya about £12 million and Andre Gray around £18.5 million. They have good contacts in Italy and willing to bring in proven PL goalscorers for their bench. Made a healthy profit on Richarlison from Brazil as well. Unfortunately our recent transfer activity isn't great and we are lumbered with the likes of the Tekker's deadweight around our necks. Unless we start to get somebody who can at least pick out a few gems in the transfer market, particularly abroad, then we will struggle around these teams like Watford.

Fair to say too many people rush to say, we should be at pushing for the "next level" and then things fall apart and clubs get relegated. But we've gone from dead certainty for relegation to expecting to stay up each season. Isn't that progress?

We could list out every season since CPFC2010 took over but that would turn this into a "look how far we've come thread".

For me this has been the most lethargic season since we got promoted. The fight and desire just don't seem to be there even though this is arguably the best squad we've had since the early 90's.

Home games against Wolves, Watford, Cardiff, Newcastle, Brighton, Southampton simply weren't good enough.

They can't all put be put down to just a bad day at the office.

I agree with a lot of what you say and don’t think everything Roy does is right. As other have alluded to I’d like to see more aggression when the opposition take liberties and perhaps see a bit more use made of Meyer although he’s had plenty of chances.

I really disagree about the strength of the squad, particularly the lack of any quick, skilful ball carriers in midfield and our aerial weakness. That aside,Take Wilf and Sakho from the the team and we’re absolutely knackered.

yup, that's why we are trailing behind... the whole set up isn't good enough or as expected for 7 years in prem.

The next level is not the be all and end all but I want to enjoy what I watch and I want to see the players enjoy it as much as possible.
I am not enjoying it much right now because we are not close to fulfilling our potential and we are likely to lose our best players in the Summer which will be an important point - how do we spend the cash to progress just a little.
With Roy in charge he is really only a short term placement and if we are building for the future we need the man in charge who might see that through.

The last 2 results have made a mediocre season feel even worse. Personally, I'm looking forward to the end of the season.

Had our away results and performances been at Selhurst then I wonder whether our collective mood would be so downbeat ?

As for losing our best players in the summer, I'm not so sure. It is starting to become a ' now or never ' for Zaha, but unless Spurs come in for him, it's difficult to see where he would go. Wan Bissaka could do with at least another year at Palace in my opinion, but a silly money offer would fund overall squad strengthening.

Which brings us to how that money would be spent. I do question how much influence Hodgson has on that and as you point out, he's only contracted for another year, so short term.

One person that will be having a busy summer is Steve Parish, because I think there are a number of important issues to be resolved.

I for one am expecting, nor calling for us to improve positionally season-on-season - if we did that we would end up as Champions !

I would like to be in the position each season when after 30 games we are reasonably comfortable and not just 5 pts clear of the relegation zone as we are now.

We are however better off than at the same juncture last season, when after 30 games we had just 27 pts and were in 18th place. The season before that we had 31 pts and just 3 clear points clear of the drop-zone so we are better off now then we were then after 30 games.

Progress I suppose but marginally, however a lot of supporters I have talked to are of the opinion that with our squad we should be far better off and this is echoed by those I have spoken to who are not Palace supporters.

Wake up call....Meyer no good enough. I look at the impact he has had compared to Jeffrey Schlupp and he just isn’t good enough. That’s despite schlupp being asked to play in 5-6 positions.

Watford have signed 60 odd players from over seas since they got promoted and two of them have been good. Arguably, Foster is equally a good signing. How many youth players have they promoted through their academy.

Every bit of success the club gets, its looked upon like lucky. Roy gave AWB his chance and he has done unbelievable well. SP has signed Zaha long term deal. (Two brilliant players we get to watch every week) We on target for biggest points total in 30 years.

I want to win things aswell, but I don’t think we are a million miles off for doing something special.

By my reckoning 15 players who have made the first team squad this season were signed from overseas clubs.Think there were more last season.

Don't think any of those who have featured this season have come through the academy.I recall seeing youth product Tommie Hoban a few seasons back but he is now on loan at Aberdeen.

As some of you have said - with our squad we should be doing better than we are.
No centre forward for months has not helped but we did have Benteke for many games and we still couldn't score.
Are Roy's hands tied on that one - probably?
We can all be armchair fans and feel we can see what the Manager can't but pretty much all of us agree that
1. We have no plan B
2. Roy doesn't use his subs wisely
3. We are unable to and have yet to find a way to break down packed defences at home and we should have worked it out by now.
A real shame as many of our players would get in to most Premier League teams and some into all.
Potential is great but it has to be fulfilled - use it or lose it!
On players going in the Summer
- Wilf - he must surely go at the right price - I so hope he doesn't but this season will likely have persuaded him that his future lies elsewhere.
- Wan B - Manchester United need a new right back asap and he would get good money and top football every week sadly!
Sakho - meant to be leaving apparently although his injury may prevent that which would be good news for us.

Another fair point, but this time last year we were on the ascendancy and showing a fighting spirit with every game.

This season the opposite is true.

Last season at this stage (30 games) we had only won 2 of our previous PL 10 games.
At the present time we have won 4 of our previous 10 PL games.
