I suspect what is happening here is with a lack of definite news we are speculating ourselves round in circles and now convincing ourselves because it would be such a big signing for Palace and that it hasn't happened yet that it isn't happening. A bit like waiting for the news after a job interview over the time you go through a series of stages to if you have it or not, that natural feeling that if it doesn't happen quick there must be a problem.

I've just had a sniff around some West Ham forums and there is no mention of Benteke. They're all talking about Bacca and there are a few of the "reliable source close to the club says it's done" posts. Read into that what you will. Wonder if this thread will get to 100 pages before any deal is done or he joins someone else !

I don't see any reason to believe it has derailed right now.

I'd rather sign Babacar for 15m than Benteke for 30 plus. If Benteke were playing for a European club, asking price would 15 to 20. The fact he's playing for Liverpool it's 30plus. We could get two good strikers for that kind of money. Wickham, Babacar and Van Persie even last year people would be in rapturesover that attack, and VP would free money for an AM or RFB
