If we go down of course, which is a distinct possibility, the stadium project will clearly be put on the 'Back burner'. "You don't say.!!"

And Reading FC no? Waitrose ahead office is near Reading, in Bracknell, which is what I said when I said HQ or manufacturing nearby. Sponsoring England cricket has a prestige to it, is watched by ABC1 socio-economic groups and the bonus is when you're inside you get prime hospitality and treatment at all England matches every day. Every day! Sainsburys target market is all socio economic groups and not just a us. A few mentions on sky sports of the radio will have no effect on sales at all. Waitrose is also a partnership so doesn't have to answer uncomfortable questions over why it has wasted money sponsoring a football team. Sainsburys on the other hand....It is 30% owned by the bid Qatari group but I guess the hire a large city company to manage all of that and dividends etc. Edited by Rudi Hedman (04 May 2017 7.59pm)

The obvious place for Crystal Palace is Crystal Palace.
Also, I believe there was a crowd-control concern over tens of thousands of fans wandering unfettered around the park.
We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football. |

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave I believe the Park has more planning issues than most because Croydon, Bromley, Lambeth and Southwark all have boundaries with or near the site. I think that's one of the reasons the plan was abandoned.

When your's and your neighbours homes are worth £500k minimum, it makes you very, very vocal. Would you like a football club you don't support or care about building a 35,000 stadium 2 minutes walk from you front door? I wouldn't. Selhurst residents moved next to a football ground. Big difference.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave I'm confused about who owns which car park. Isn't the car park directly behind the Main Stand, which may still be known as the Executive Car Park, belong to the club? Sainsbury's customers can't park there at any time, or couldn't when I was there in the early nineties. There is also a fence which divides that car park from the Sainsbury's car park which is on Whitehorse Lane. The ECP's entrance is on Holmesdale Road.

Ken I seem to have a recollection of your good self on Sainsbury's car park duty when you used to be a matchday steward ! I also am not sure of the ownership of these car parks.Parish referred to a "Slither" so perhaps the plans include having to utilise a small part of the current Sainsbury's carpark.Either the plans will need to be revised or an agreement reached with Sainsbury's regarding price.I will have to find out more about this !

By looking at it, I think we must need a small bit of it at the end by the fence to complete a full stand. I could be wrong, but that seems right.

When we submitted, and had approved, plans to build a club shop/offices on part of that carpark, there was mention in the documentation of agreement being reached with Sainsbury's for the plans. I've now found the planning application: 2a states "the Crystal Palace car park is leased by Sainsbury's to the football club, and is separate from the Sainsbury's car park". So Sainsbury's own the whole thing, therefore "sliver" it may be, but it's a sizeable sliver.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |
