Roy is not going to start blooding youngsters up front or at right back. You have to give him some level of credit over AWB, but let’s have it right, he got his chance... by chance. We had no one else. Actually, the one area we could’ve started giving youth a chance (and I was hoping we would) was, ironically, central midfield. No chance of that either now. A truly pathetic window. Absolutely right, Dreher and Flanagan seem to be our main prospects but instead we'll be helping another player at the wrong end of his career recover from a leg break. All I can say is that I hope Richard Shaw works some magic with a few youngsters - when injuries hit, we might need another young right back, left back, striker...

I bet we announce a squad of 23, leaving a couple of non contract options.
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

I don't think we have more than 23 players available anyway

Where is your “outgoings” chat now buddy? That position is unchanged. Infrastructure and enhanced non-TV revenue remain the critical needs for this club. However, so does staying in this league. When I posted that I thought we might get a decent striker; but I was 100% positive we would get one of the numerous RB candidates we were linked with. And who were we chasing last minute? A striker! Unless we have another jewel in the academy, I am joining the doom-sayers for this season.

Thre's still the winter transfer, so Batshuayi coming then after only playing a few minutes for Chelsea should save the season. As long as Zaha stays we should be ok. Exactly like last year, same players. Harder start probably without a good striker, but a beter one will come in the second part of the season. Just AWB missing. Important right back, but team could do similar with Ward/Simpson there. Hopefully. Real downfall will come once Zaha is sold, as clearly the board has no idea how to do transfers and this team will drop to the Chanpionship and maybe even to League One without a proper Zaha replacement, with the current scouting team's transfers. Hopefully Camereras and McCarthy will add attacking and defensive substance to midfield, but having to carry on with Ward and maybe Simpson as RB is asking for a lot of trouble and assumes we are in a rescuable posittiin by January and that Zaha will be sold - a lot of assumptions there

The window would look less terrible if we signed an out of contract striker. Balotelli is available I think. He has a nightmare temperament but is still a quality player who would score goals regularly providing he remains disciplined.

only reason you bring him in is if you really do want to destroy dressing room.

Great news, Luka extended to 2023. At least we've got that!

People are moaning/questioning why didnt we get a RB in the 'window' & rightly so. Now i have no idea where this U23 lad plays but saw him in a pre-season game & the last ditch & clean tackles he made reminded me of Obi-wan, his nam Tyrick Mitchel. I like the look of him, he's fearless, pacey & tough. I also am aware that he wont ever get given a chance hey ho
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Could be mistaken but think Mitchell is a left back? But by all counts looks a decent player for the future Edited by NI_palace_fan (09 Aug 2019 6.59pm)
