Chelsea's odds have fallen a lot today, i have heard that they would fancy Wilf to replace Hazard, staying in London at a top six side might be appealing to him. If this were to be the case and Chelsea offered RLC plus Batshuayi and cash what would people think? IMO i would seriously consider this, we are never going to replace Wilf and something like this could be the best possible outcome. Bats and RLC plus whatever cash would be an amazing deal considering Wilf is going anyway. I still think we have one more season with him tho.

Are you sure he wants to prove himself on a higher stage? Has he said so? I have no idea whether he wants to play on a wider stage or not but, bearing in mind a footballer needs to have one hell of a drive if they want to get anywhere in football, then I can't think that, having made it at Palace, he's ready to put on the metaphorical slippers and coast at Palace until retirement. He obviously saw no future for himself and future England call-ups, but the one thing he didn't do was nothing. His Ivory Coast move might indicate that Zaha is capable of making quite an unusual move if only to play on a wider stage.

I have never regarded playing for the Ivory Coast, as playing on the wider stage. Maybe you do.

I have never regarded playing for the Ivory Coast, as playing on the wider stage. Maybe you do. I think most people expected Ivory Coast to qualify for the World Cup. If Wilf had held out for England he may not have been in Southgate's WC squad and by the next one he'd be 29. This may have come into his thinking (albeit backfired if it did). Chelsea are the one club who concern me, purely as if either or both Hazard and Willian were to go then Zaha might be seen as an exciting signing to step in. Plus they would have the money to bankroll it if that were to happen. If he has to go then I'd rather it was to Chelsea than Spurs, partly as they have more chance of success and partly because I hate the way Levy conducts his business.

I have never regarded playing for the Ivory Coast, as playing on the wider stage. Maybe you do. Well, Ivory Coast made the previous 3 world cups before Russia. So when Wilf made the choice to play for them they had the pedigree and history of fairly regularly making it onto the 'wider stage'. Morocco put paid to any 2018 ambitions.

3 weeks before the season starts is not the best time to sell him and next summer he still has 3 years on his contract. Have a word with yourself. whoa...im not advocating we flog him now! sorry if I gave that impression. Edited by Ginger Pubic Wig (24 Jul 2018 12.56pm)

Ok type can come across that way. was in response to a "why might there be talk of it" comment and I was setting out the reasons. even if we managed a superb set of replacements (unlikely), selling Wilf so late would be insanely risky and unwise. but to believe there's no pressure to sell him, even now, is probably way off the mark too.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle Are Chelsea one of the sets of fans on YouTube giving Wilf abuse at Selhurst, whether just football related or not? I think they’re generally quiet.

Would like Moses and RLC as makeweights but we won't negotiate anything worthwhile. We seem to be the worst negotiators of transfers in the league. If our management had negotiated the WWII treaties we would all be reading Mein Kampf on a weekly subscription basis.
