Does is really matter who we get? Not according to this analysis on the BBC!! [Link]

"But does sacking your manager at this time of year lead to an improvement in results? Over the previous five completed seasons 32 managers have been sacked by clubs in the Football League during December and January. On 15 occasions clubs have finished the season in a higher position than when they sacked the manager, while on a further 12 the club in question finished lower. Five times the club finished in exactly the same position.

Of the 32 dismissals, 21 clubs finished the campaign within three places of where they stood in the table when the sacking took place. Not once did a club who sacked their manager to reinvigorate a foundering promotion campaign end the season going up. Five times clubs that sacked their manager while in the relegation zone still went down, but a further seven managed to avoid the drop. Perhaps a change of manager is worth a gamble if you are in the relegation zone when the season reaches its midway point?"

Supporting Crystal Palace since 19.45 on 29th August 1972 (approximately)!

Seems to be some back tracking going on now. Most recent article in our local rag has gone from last night's 'he's been offered the job' to a much more speculative piece and, unless I'm going mad, they've pulled the original one saying he'd been offered. Just catching up on SSN to see if they've back tracked too.

Which is in line with the CPFC2010 statement yesterday.

I've still got a gut feeling he will stay at Bournemouth.

Maybe there's hope for us yet that he might turn you down especially when he feels the full force of the fans today in their 'Don't Go' campaign. I'm just trying to think if I've seen similar happen at a club - you see plenty of 'Whoever Out' posters etc when things aren't going well. I can't remember seeing a 'protest' begging a manager to stay.

I hope he stays with you at Bournemouth, FF. He'll be on a hiding to nothing with us. Far better to stay with his successful side rather than enter an immediate relegation scrap with us which may tarnish his CV?
I think we should stick with Dougie until the end of the season and then reassess

Not enough experience in my book the other candidates would have the edge for me i suppose it all boils down to finances

January's probably too late to make the change. Remember, when Kit Symons went in December 03 we were in the bottom three. Dowie cam in and took us to the play-offs and the Premiership. I can't see that happening this time but there's no reason why a good manager won't get us well up the table.

The crowd is outstanding, and especially with the penalty after 44 minutes it was clear when we came out after half-time the welcome would be pretty loud and not too friendly. Crystal Palace wanted to strike back, so that was all clear. This is a wonderful place to play football - Jurgen Klopp

Quite excited at the prospect of us getting a young manager with such potential, but I have to be honest: not sure why he would want to come to Palace.

Things just seem to be getting better and better for him at Bournemouth, and he can almost do no wrong. That gives him quite a lot of time and space to learn his trade without too much pressure. The chemistry between him and the club is obviously a good match, but there is no guarantee that will happen elsewhere.

If he comes to Palace in our present struggle, he will have to prove himself all over again, but this time with a lot more expectation on his back and not the same affectionate backing from the fans he is getting at Dean Court at the moment, as you see him as one of your own.

Hate to say it but there is also a high probability that Bournemouth will be one division higher than us come May. My only hope is that Parish & Co have been very persuasive and that Howe sees Bournemouth's financial problems as something that he just can't work with anymore.

I really think your fans demonstrating for him to stay today might really swing it in your favour - so please don't FF
