The Falklands is just an excuse for the Argentinians to deflect attention away from their own incompetence especially their economy.

Since they invaded just about every leader since uses it when they are in trouble.

Economically Argentina could be a great country but they just lurch from one crisis to the next, left or right it doesn't matter.

If they had not invaded the Falklands I would not have had a problem with some kind of arrangement with them. Apparently there are natural resources in the seas around the Islands which is what they really want e.g. oil.

We could have made a deal with them to split the profits but not after blood has been spilt.

And that handball.

Looks like a genuine organisation.

The organisation might be attempting to express genuine concerns. I am aware of agencies that do little more than traffic people into domestic servitude, removing passports, keeping the meagre pay to cover airfares and fees. Modern slavery in all but name, This piece is though garbage from start to finish. Ignorant and misinformed.

What's your experience of what happens to these girls when they get to North America?

Very little. People aren’t trafficked to North America so far as I know. Most seem to end up in the middle-east. One who went to Kuwait just disappeared without trace and nothing happened.

One girl I knew met and married an American.who took her back to the States, but it turned out that his promises of a nice home were lies. He lived in a shack and treated her badly. So she left him, found safety with another Filipina (they soon build networks) and worked until she had enough for an airfare back to the Philippines. Where I believe she remains. So not all stories have happy endings, but most do.

Interesting that the opposition parties are moaning about the lack of tax cuts.

My memory may be playing up but didn't they all demand the government spend more money during the COVID crisis?

No, i think what most are staying is that it's not really a tax cut at all as other measures such as freezing the tax bands will eat into any 'savings'.

Pensions have risen 10% and now 8% in the last 2 years as they have tracked inflation - tax bands have remained frozen.
You do the math.

Overall tax levels are at their highest level for many decades, that's a fact. However, the Tories persist in saying they are the party of low taxes. Smoke and mirrors has been mentioned

I think the Tory party, it's donors and the like did more than alright from the Covid crisis. I wonder where all the PPE contract money went?

Exploiting a need is nothing new and certainly not restricted to one side of the political spectrum. Ask Black Lives Matter leaders.

Covid has exposed a wonderful bit of doublethink by its opponents since the government are being blamed for being too cautious and wreckless at the same time.

Under Labour, lockdowns would have been longer of course and heaven knows how hopeless lightweights in the shadow cabinet would have dealt with a pandemic.

That is the point I was making. I agree that tax are high but they would have been far higher under the opposition becaue they wanted to spend more money.

It's not a case of Tory good Labour bad more about none of them are any good when it comes to the economy.

Sunak polling less than Truss.

Is dodgy Dave there for a purpose?

This thread is self-explanatory there is nothing that is actually competent to find anywhere in the last 13 years especially tory Brexit with its zero growth, zero investment, and now record immigration.

Even the bad times are bad, especially when you get a tax cut and it turns out to be an increase with the rest of a decade of grim economic reality to follow.
