Why are there no incoming offers for Edouard? He scored two crackers in the most recent friendly.

Have you watched Gray play? Yes, of course, he has all the attributes to be a good player, pace, strength, height a good right foot, the style of play suits him better than Evertons rigid system, or Leicesters on the break system, for 12m GBP a good signing for me.

Darren Ambrose has just confirmed there is no release clause anymore for Olise and if there was, he'd be gone already. So I guess that's good news for 1 more season unless he's sold for big bucks this season. I expect this is Chelsea unsettling him. On Zaha point. Sad to see him leave but fair play that he wants to play Champions league football and he will be in a starting line up. He's done a lot for the club, he will stay a palace icon and I hope we have more players with his talent and hunger play for us!

My point being that I am not a fan of Schlupp but do think he is a useful squad player but not a starter. Why are we signing players who are no better than our current crop of weakest players? I agree on Schlupp although I am a huge fan, not for any objective reasons I've just always liked him My thoughts on Gray are that he has been identified as a cheaper, relatively young and available option for us as opposed to purely an analysis of his value as a winger. I do however think he is capable of bringing plenty of talent, it's more his mentality/attitude that is subject to criticism than his ability, which he certainly has plenty of. Given my points around our ability to procure him vs many another player, I just don't generally see any point b!tching, moaning or scrutinising his signing, if it does happen, and we're best off as fans just getting behind him and hoping for his best. Not saying it will happen, but if it does, he would/could turn out to be a very good buy at a reasonably low cost.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Would add to that Lanzo, Palace are not in a position to make signings with everyone , giving an immediate ,Wow! There might be one or two out there to compare with Gray, all have had in and out form, and none would fill everyone’s boots no player is everyone’s cup of tea ,punter wise. You sum Gray up well , as with any signing you always look for their best form.

If this happens, he should be given some rope by the fans. For a start we don’t know if his publicity is true, or tittle tattle, not a complete player , but with a bit more consistency a more than useful addition. If people are going to compare him to an inform Zaha, it could be hard for him and them, but on his day ,played to his strong points can be very effective, as long as we don’t try and turn him into a central striker could work out well. I do think that as a fanbase and a club as a whole we are pretty good with this. We have a long history of players who blow hot and cold, but give them time etc

I don't think Gray is anywhere near the quality of Zaha, but if he played like he did in his first season for Everton then he would be ok. My concern is that is still a backward step, although I guess we were unlikely to be able to afford a readymade replacement for Wilf. The hope is if we can't get a player as good as Wilf then we at least get someone who complements the current team and provides balance. Gray is a left winger who like Townsend is capable of the odd top class goal. Still underwhelming if it happens though.

Same old every transfer window, just don’t read his posts then, simple. Edited by Spiderman (24 Jul 2023 8.46am) Because his posts are so misleading. If he’s just posting what he hears then he would be better not to bother, as the information is so often plainly WRONG. This is not helpful. Secondly, he never posts anything original that hasn’t already been posted elsewhere. Anyone with a link to someone at the club would occasionally post something not previously reported on and that actually turns out to be accurate. Finally he also doesn’t help himself by his posting style and attitude. It’s a football fans forum. It’s designed to encourage discussion. If someone is going to create their own thread and post reams of disingenuous nonsense on it and claim it as as fact, then it is not unreasonable to be called out about it when it is shown to be untrue.

When someone is constantly taking info from social media etc and not just re posting that info like for like but adding extra’s on the end to make it look like they know more, it does get a little tedious. I would never condone abusing anyone but a bit of honesty wouldn’t go astray.

It would be even worse if the news reflect assumptions and the planning process of relevant people in a PL club during transfer windows.
