Let me answer for you. It is about loony identity politics trumping common sense. It is hiding behind technicalities. What I wonder will you say if a female boxer is killed or seriously injured by a transgender or someone with similar advantages? Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (02 Aug 2024 5.45pm) Lots of Olympians have biological advantages - that’s generally what makes them so impressive. What we determine as unfair within that is an interesting talking point. As I’ve already said, there are reasonable conversations to be had around the likes of Semenya and Khalife’s participation in sports, but this bulls*** about her being a man is just objectively nonsense. Being trans is illegal in Algeria for starters… the idea that they would enter a trans athlete is absurd. Many sports don’t allow trans women to participate - I have never for a second said I would support trans women competing in women’s sport. My point is simply that this isn’t one of those cases - this is not someone dominating a sport, nor seemingly causing any more injury than any other boxer.

Those were your words. Now you want to base the opposite on a condition that effects 1 in an 100,000 females and in most cases isn't even reported. We all see what is happening here and I know a bloke's frame when I see it.

The two Olympians competing as 'female boxers' in Paris were previously disqualified from a women's boxing championship for having XY chromosomes. The thinking is that people with this condition are extremely rare. How female or male they are comes down to individual situations and definitions. One thing is certain they still have the male hormone advantage that feeds into frame strength as they grow up and are thus highly sought after by certain countries for the Olympics exactly because they can avoid deselection. If there was Olympic wriggling, you would do very well. Just because you can make an argument for something doesn't make it sensible. Where would your reasoning draw the line? Transvestites? Pantomime Horses? Cyborgs? [ Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (02 Aug 2024 6.57pm)

Of course it is factually untrue to say that, if we acknowledge there are exceptions - the fact that those exceptions are rare doesn’t change that. Loads of women have masculine frames - the idea that you just get to decide someone is transsexual because of how they look is laughable. As is the idea of a conservative Islamic nation like Algeria knowingly entering a trans athlete to represent them. Unless we’re suggesting she’s even fooled them for her whole career?
