Do you remember when Leicester sold their best player to Man City for £50m and got relegated? And the time Watford sold their best player to Everton for £50m and got relegated? Or the time Everton sold their best player to Man Utd for £70m and were relegated? Or when Southampton sold their best player 3 years on the trot and got relegated each season? Oh hang on...

This is getting us nowhere. Let's see what happens regarding transfers in and out and next seasons progress and reconvene then.

Think we all need to take a deep breath and look at this objectively. So Manure if you believe current reports have now offered £50M for a 21 year old that made his debut in Feb 2018 and made 40 odd appearances. On the other hand again if you believe reports they are saying that Dalot who had a good end to the season, but too young so they need to sign a more experienced right back..!! So allegedly they are going for AWB, 21 and 40 odd appearances - really..!! There's been nothing but rhetoric from the press - so no direct quotes from AWB, his agents or the club. The only direct quote from AWB in early May when he said he was committed to Palace. My real question is just how desperate are Manure to be seriously considering paying £50M+ for a 21 year old player that has just 40 odd appearances. Look AWB was great last year but he ain't the finished product by any stretch of the imagination. If Manure seriously happy to pay £50M - we can replace him with money still in the bank. Beyond that my advice to AWB would be - look at what happened to Wilf. So bide your time and develop in a team where you know you will be playing every game and go from there. Manure at the moment are a toxic club - there is every chance Solskjaer will not be Manager come Christmas so do not put your neck in that noose..!! Time will tell..!! COYP

COYP Its 35mill with 15 mill add ons . so its not 50 in the bank , the add on can be pretty unrealistic and take years or never get to the bank. im sure one of the Benteke add ons was when we get to the champions league

AWB is well worth 50 million, the statistics do not lie. He made more interceptions than any other defender in the Premiership, his dribbling was better than any other defender too! Whilst he did this in a Palace side who under performed for 3/4 of the season, is pretty incredible. As it stands he is the finished article, Man Utd won’t make him a better player, if they do buy him he goes straight into their starting 11. They haven’t got a right back as good as him and they want him big time. Go onto Red Cafe their fans want the deal done and can’t understand why the Man Utd hierarchy are stalling. I would rather go 60 million with add-ons and a 25% sell on clause...

Answer the following maths problem and then re-consider your above statement. Which is better:- 4/10 6/10 Further consider the following. The relative weighting of positions is also ignored in the above scenario. Let's say all our players are 5 out of 10s for a minute other than AWB who is 9 out of 10. I would trade downgrading AWB to a 5/10 if it meant upgrading centre forward from 5/10 to 8/10 in a heartbeat. Because a quality centre forward is worth more than a quality right back. To confirm, these are theoretical maths points to prove your overall statement wrong - I'm not saying that the rest of our squad is overall 4/10s nor am I saying what we'd buy are 6/10s. Simply that you can overall upgrade the squad by selling one great player and improving a little bit in a few other positions. This is actually what Liverpool did. Sold Coutinho (at the time arguably their best player) for £170m and reinvested by upgrading 4 or 5 positions in purchasing VVD, Fabinho, Keita, Shaqiri etc. In Liverpool's case they hit the jackpot because they landed VVD as part of that exchange - effectively getting somebody at half Coutinho's price who had a massive impact on the squad. NB: There is NOTHING to suggest we couldn't do the same. We could hit the jackpot on a cheaper player too - theoretically reinvesting AWB funds in a minor upgrade on Macca and PVA (for example) then also bagging an underpriced centre forward who changes our whole team around. Not saying that is a certainty - but its no less unlikely than your absolute doom relegated instantly scenario. EDIT: I'm curious as to which bit of this you selectively reply to whilst ignoring the remainder because it doesn't help your terrible argument. Edited by Master Coin (17 Jun 2019 2.44pm) Very sadly statistics show that keeping clean sheets gets you more points than scoring 1 goal. Thus defenders are really better value, & their value is becoming reckonised.

Seems Parish would deal at 50 cash. Cue Man Utd signing AWB for 45 mil with 5 mil in add ons. Its a good deal for us at that money based on the current situation.

I will be disgusted if he is sold for less than 70 million. Palace won't get another penny of season ticket money from me if they get relegated again through stupid decision making. Project fear if I ever saw it. Selling Zaha could very well see us go down. Selling a right back causing relegation? Total nonsense. He is a great player but I didnt notice us getting relegated with years of Joel Ward back there.
