Nick.... as I said on the other thread.... the next PM in 2020 will be decided by the electorate, not by who has the most party members.

Labour supporters are most likely union members too and joining the Labour Party costs £3 doesn't it?

It will still be down to whoever is the most credible party leader.

At this stage it is difficult to imagine Corbyn overturning the general public's concern about Labour's economic credentials... especially as he's appointed his best mate as shadow chancellor.

McDonnell is an excellent choice. I've been banging on on here for ages about the failures of austerity. At last we have someone in a prominent position to put proper arguments forward against it.

You should be pleased that the government have an opposition at last, not like the Tory lite last lot.

The old ad hominem argument. Well done sir!

So, two days in and:

1) most of the shadow cabinet have resigned;
2) Corbyn has been accused of not appointing enough women in his cabinet;
3) his choice of shadow chancellor has been universally derided;

The thing I love is that is brewing nicely up to be a full on 'Judean People's Front' civil war. The portents are there.

Now I am sure the left inclined amongst us will bang on about this being a 'new type of politics' but there is nothing more that the left like more than tearing into fellow lefties for lacking 'morals', 'ideological purity' or some other bollocks. And that includes having a pop at the right.

Owen Jones was critical today.

Obviously when the Corbyn lot turn in on themselves, they'll somehow still blame Tristram Hunt.

Is it any surprise that Owen Jones was critical today?

He has made a career out of being a contrarian. What he says he supports now actually has some power. He is very confused about this and is now criticising his own sort as criticising things pays the bills.

I am looking forward to more of this type of thing. As you say, Tristram Hunt will get the blame when it falls apart, so will Blair no doubt even though he left office a decade ago.

ad hominem reasoning is not always fallacious/wrong. A man of your (purported) education should know that.

Sorry to say NG that you consistently come over as a naïve know all whose pronouncements are often pretty puerile. So you're bound to get some push back!

Shall we have a sweep on the first one of Corbyns cabinet to resign?

Lord Falconer is my bet. No doubt Corbyn will say something deranged and Falconer will resign on principle.

My local MP who turned up to the hospital to protest once is now health secretary.

A vegan is in charge of food and rural affairs.

Emily Thornbury was tipped for a post. Surprised she wasn't the new shadow minister for construction after seeing a white van man.

Ikea cabinet.

Cornyn first, now McDonnell, not just great for the Torys but also Ukip as both are pro immigration.
Labour are in danger of fusing into the greens.

I can't see Falconer hanging around when Corbyn apologises for the 'illegal' Iraq war.
