It must have been quite a trial with powerful arguments on both sides.

And there is no dispute the defence admits harming the building.

A defeat for the establishment that needs order and consistency to maintain its power.

Only two hours of deliberation.

The context of climate breakdown and the role of banks for example unfortunately you would have had to be there.

What do you mean 'a defeat for the establishment'. Just Stop Oil, Black Lives Matter, Pro-Hammas anti-Jews, the BBC and crypto-communists like you are the establishment now.

You make it sound like HSBC was funding criminals, as far as I am aware they have not broken the law. Does that mean I can smash up the Salvation Army because I don't like how they spend their money?

Not if a unanimous verdict was required. If they were adamant they would never change their mind then the lure of release might have encouraged the others to just call it a day.

After two hours? That was one convincing standout. Isn't it more likely that the majority of the jury agreed with the not guilty verdict and the rest went along with them?

The jury I was on first vote 11-1 not guilty. The guilty juror immediately changed their verdict. We could have been back in 5 mins but we talked about the case to make it look better.

My guess is that the majority was for a not guilty so if there were any hold outs they caved.

The jury I was on included two ladies who freely admitted they'd been bored and couldn't understand anything that had been said in court (the case was against two blokes who'd smashed up a pub in Canning Town not a months' long fraud or anything complicated) so they just went along with the majority.

The defence of exploitation of the poor is frankly disgusting and I view it as evidence of the double standards of the left and its selective ire in general that it usually falls to social conservatism to call this out.

Another notch on decline's belt.

Frequently seen in Hong Kong are sad old fecks walking around with Filipina women half or a third of their age. They are extending a helping hand to these unfortunate women.....no they're not, they are pathetic old feckers who can exploit the vulnerable. Particularly pathetic is those who cannot afford to support their wives despite promising the world and the wives end up having to work, often when the husband has retired.

More and more you see the same old fecks in the UK now.

Very well put.

It's pathetic and deserves the scorn and ridicule it receives.

Can these relationships and marriages happen organically?.....of course....people meet and fall in love.

However, we all know that this is an unspoken industry and that there are legions of sad old fecks exploiting the poor towards their own selfish ends.

They know who they are.

No doubt this weakness of the Jury system has been understood for centuries.

I first noticed it as a young man with the OJ Simpson trial......Mind you that was probably racism and fear more than intellectual incapability, but there's little doubt that was present among most of them as well.

That there are some who seem pretty pathetic cases to us is true but to the ladies? I am not so sure that they still prefer the life they have got rather than the life they would have had.

Remember this started with the accusation that men are buying wives. Which is not true. It then morphed into a more general accusation that the ladies are being exploited, when the truth is that they are willingly participating in relationships that might look unusual to some, but don't to them. Don't believe me? Here is a Filipina describing their attitude much better than I can:-

[Link]

It's their choice. Not anyone else's. You can regard the men involved as losers if that's your judgement, but not the ladies. If they find the relationship doesn't work then they can, and sometimes do, walk away from it.

Some people here get extremely excited at the idea that some people want to live by their own standards in our country yet here we have the same people trying to impose their standards on other cultures.
