ECHR, another piece of red tape that Boris promised to rid the UK of.

I'm sure all those poor sods who have been flooded out in the UK will be delighted that the government plans a radical change for foreign climate disasters. Pity they don't do the same over here.

After blowing 140 millions on absolutely nothing its back to what the tories love most. Bashing the poor and disadvantaged, how well that has worked before, how it has transformed the UK. Heseltine accuses Tories of fuelling ‘hate politics’ over plot to strip jobless of free prescriptions. They just never learn.

I write this with considerable irritation and a little annoyance. A month or two ago I made the point that protestors who had caused criminal damage were being let off or given a soft touch by our liberal justice system....which essentially judges through a political lens. I was told...I think by SW19....that I was over reacting and that this isn't the case (because he could point to judgements). He viewed the case in Bristol where criminals were let off as an anomaly. Well, just three days ago it's happened again. Criminal damage being accepted if you share the politics of those making the decisions. I get fed up with making these points and then getting replies that don't take this issue seriously enough....This is absolutely outrageous. It is legal decline manifest. [Tweet Link]

You would need to be inside the jury room to know how and why someone is acquitted. It only takes one strong voice to overpower the opinions of others who just want to go home for a case to be lost against all reason. I know I will be mocked for pointing this out but it is the hope of Trump’s defence that they can get one “hold out” in place on the juries that will decide his trials.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Edited by Stirlingsays (19 Nov 2023 10.53am) Disgraceful decision by the jury. Perhaps a bunch of us should go to their houses and cause damage as a political protest, see what they think of that. The activists did not deny their actions so this was purely a decision by the jury that these people were entitled to destroy property in pursuit of their political aims.

This is an affront to British law. While I'm no fan of this particular bank for other reasons the fact that idiots are being allowed to damage their property without punishment is a real danger to investment and jobs. This is how the left frighten away money and then complain that rich people aren't giving them enough. Edited by Stirlingsays (19 Nov 2023 11.19am)

It makes a mockery of passing laws
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
