Hi risk Anus has a certain 'ring' to it......

Then change who “they” are! That’s our role.

Of course it's "our" fault. God forbid MPs should bear any responsibility for their own shortcomings.

It’s much more than “one man’s interpretation”. It’s the fundamental underlying principle of a representative democracy.

If you believe that because more are now involved we need to incorporate some elements of a direct democracy into our system then by all means campaign for it, get the new arrangements enshrined in law and it will be our system in the future.

It isn’t now.

It is very much one man's view of things.
Yes, I do believe that now everyone has a vote they don't have to just accept all decisions handed down by unqualified people acting out of self interest.

I am delighted that Rishi Sunak will be our next PM and I wish him well as he grapples with the profound economic challenges our country faces.
The Conservative Party must now unite behind Rishi - he has my full support.

Morally he doesn't, but we are democratically deficient, and e probably does.

Truss the latest in a line of unelected failures.

What is it about a parliamentary system you don't get?

Apart from that we don't elect a president in the UK

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Everyone can have shortcomings, bear the responsibility for them and suffer the consequences. In the case of MPs that includes losing their job as a consequence of us doing ours.

It’s many people’s view of things. I also believe it is the view of most constitutional scholars.

No-one has to just accept anything! Campaigning for change, whilst abiding by the law, is a fundamental right.

Yes you are right, maybe it's the system that is wrong , but as you say in a parliamentary democracy with fixed terms you could not impose a system that if a leader resigns the party holding the majority is somehow forced to surrender that majority to an election.

I do however find it amusing that the Tory members are now bleating about a lack of democracy when they don't like the candidate the very arguement they dismissed when made by the other parties when the last new PM was appointed.

It remains to be seen what the new guy does, we need some action as parliament has been paralysed by in fighting now for months
