I would be very surprised if we signed Richards and still went for AWB, given we extended Clyne. Chris Richards is a centre back who can play as right back. Omar Richards is a right back Munich just sold to Forest.

My understanding is that Omar Richards is an attack-minded left-back who loves getting forward and delivering crosses.A good athlete and a good defender in 1 v 1 situations.I am told that he played as a No 10 coming through in the Fulham academy.

AWB got a lot of stick last season, but the whole United defence was in disarray and he is not a leader. Alongside a more organised defence he would quickly get back to his best, but I'm just not sure Palace are in a place where they are ready to pay £20m for a full-back yet, but who knows. Personally I think AWB is better suited to a family club like ours where people actually care more about each other than their Instagram accounts. Also, AWB is as good as any of our current full-backs in terms of attacking play, even if he is not good enough going forward for a team like United. Very good post .

The word 'Obligation' worrys me somewhat; Suggests it would be a done deal. Surely the 'Option' to buy would be a wiser one. If he doesn't fit in, and plays hardly any games, are we still obligted To buy at 20m?

We may really want him now but with FFP and having some other targets may not be able to splash £20m on him this summer. Therefore Man U may be doing us a favour by kinda deferring payment til next year.

Are we really saying CPFC is now too good for AWB? If that is the case we have come a long way in the short time since he started for us.

Chris Richard’s from Bayern is a done deal £10m plus add-ons 5yr deal. AWB could be set for loan deal to Palace with obligation to buy next year for £20m As I posted the other day.

What concerns me is that we keep buying defenders and midfield players . It isn't, but I can't think when that happened at all last season? Arguably Leeds away but frankly we were poor in that. Could you please name one striker that guarantees more Premier League goals than Mateta who could be willing to join a club like CPFC and who is available for something less than ~£40m? To help, Mateta's goals per 90 minutes last season is here - [Link] To save looking, he's 24th. The only players higher than him who are not at a top 6 club are Wissa (Brentford), Zaha (Palace), Cornet (Burnley) and Maddison (Leicester). Feel free to include strikers already signed by other Premier League clubs this summer - I can't see anyone though. If you can't name someone, then let's get behind Mateta, Edouard and Benteke, recognise that last year was our joint 2nd highest number of goals scored of this current PL spell, and recognise that everyone thinks Zaha, Eze and Olise are a good supporting cast? I think everyone would agree that the two players we've spent money on - Doucoure and (likely) Richards - are in positions we were critically short of numbers.

Even Barca's brand of possession football made for a boring spectacle of a game. At least every now and then something amazing would happen then they'd score. but we have to have a clear picture and plan of what we're trying To achieve, and the problem areas we have. Midfield is priority in this window. strikers, not so much. Just because we're buying defenders and midfielders doesn't mean that it'll be slow buildup. the Idea is to bring in The right players to transition through the positions, and create a scoring opportunity.
