A minor victory in the shellfish dispute.

Most of the problems with exporting are down to the EU playing games. Hopefully they will realise that this damages them as much as us silly to get into a trade war when these issues are easily resolved.

Meanwhile expats in the EU are finding life being made very difficult for them. Imagine the outcry in this country if we had done the same to their expats.

I am afraid to say you do not know what you are talking about. Passengers are fully aware of documents required to show on arrival, if they choose not to have them ready, whose fault is that? This is what is leading to delays. If you have worked at an airport you will know that scheduling of arriving flights is ridiculous, solely to make as much money as possible, no concerns for passengers or staff.
With regard to Heathrow there is enough BF staff, they have staff from 5 Terminals working at 2, staff from Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, Bristol are going there on a daily basis. Not making this up my wife is BF and does it! I was also BF for over 30 years so am fully aware of what happens regarding scheduling. Don’t place the blame unless you know the full facts, although I appreciate that doesn’t suit your agenda.

No agenda at all, just experience of reality. I've experienced the utter disdain and disinterest when arriving at Heathrow, lots of staff behind the kiosks chatting away while only a handful of kiosks open and massive queues. So you were employed in this job. Well that makes you at total conflict of interest to reply, clearly defending the indefensible. There are hardly any flights coming into Heathrow compared to normal years and yet still the same "can't be bothered" attitude by the staff, who are getting paid and more than likely getting overtime, benefits etc. Meanwhile, those arriving have paid for the privilege after hours on a flight and should be treated as customers as they are paying the salaries of the border staff, instead are treated like objects getting in the way of the staff. Arrogance beyond belief, nothing changes.

Their are 27 sovereign nations dealing with the many UK immigrants in their countries and are being very flexible with the regulations. However, the UK decided to leave the EU bloc and become a third country in doing so. With becoming a third country, rules and regulations apply, all documented in the deal signed by Johnson. If you have a problem with that deal, go speak to him.

Ever tried the Metro B?

More than 440 financial firms have shifted thousands of jobs and £1 trillion of assets out of the UK and into the EU because of Brexit, with more pain still to come.

Still maybe, but I actually doubt it, the EU will buy more of our crustaceans..........

I never experienced as a foreign worker in Germany, any such 'difficulties' at all, quite the reverse.

You simply have to obey the law as you would anywhere.

The UK wanted it that way, and that's what it got.

Once the UK has secured deals with other countries for goods im sure the eu will play ball. Its bully boy tactics because atm they can. The shoe will be on the other foot in good time so karma will happen. Early days. Nothing to stop boris changing rules over here for migrants. Who knows if he will but options are there to copy the eu.

You have to see the EU in terms of being a wounded beast, that thinks it is fighting for its life. This vaccine debacle has done it enormous damage and like everybody on the receipt of such humiliation, it wants/needs to lash out.

Its plan was to make life as unpleasant as possible for the UK anyway and with Covid thrown into the mix, then it is in even more trouble. But its authority has been severely damaged and the limitations of the trend towards effectively dumping damaged political goods into EU leadership positions has finally had a severe come-uppance.

The UK needs to get through the rest of this year and break the back of Covid which means eating s*** for a bit more and then we can hit back.

The EU truly is an appallingly badly run institution that has no positive response to Brexit and unable to understand why it happened.

I haven't seen this story but I will take your word for it.

Companies always move assets and people around I lost my London job to Dublin because of the EU tax deal and when that ended the bank moved the same job to India. I remember the Irish Times complaining that Indians were stealing Irish jobs and where did the Irish get them?

So I am not surprised that assets and jobs moved to the EU we live in a capitalist world and businesses will do what they think is right for them.

What matters is how the UK economy performs and that is now largely in the hands of the UK government post Brexit. If they set the right tax and regulatory regime that business or others will come back to the UK.

So still to early to see if leaving was a disaster as some think.

You are talking utter b***ocks. BF staff do not get paid overtime...fact. Who pays them? Ah the taxpayer, BF staff pay taxes so actually you could say pay their own salary. Do you pay U.K. tax? Possibly not, so you don’t actually contribute towards their salary. Conflict of interest... possibly but I actually know what I am talking about and get sick and tired of people like you who think they know everything, who complain without knowing the full facts.

Do you know anything about flight scheduling?
Staff “chatting away” have you thought they may be working? Looking out for certain passengers. Maybe they are not BF staff, Counter Terrorism have staff at the border at all times.
You claim to have no agenda... yeh right

ps try using the egates, if you are eligible you won’t have to interact with anyone ( maybe a good thing, given your attitude). Have you also considered that BF have to comply with social distancing rules? Better still try not travelling during a pandemic

You can"t blame them for not wanting sub standard shellfish on their plates, they only want top grade class A, we were selling class B, I know if I was in Spain and was offered a seafood dish, with the choice of clean water fish or the ones that were feeding on sewage, I might just go for the clean water variety! If we were doing the same, banning class B fish from France, everybody would be saying too right! I seem to remember lots of crap been thrown at our Polish allies, remember their pilots in the war?, we wern"t exactly the most accomodating hosts pre EU vote, and they had the best pilots in ww2, thats the reason for the polish war memorial near heathrow.

As I have previously said, airport authorities and airlines have ridiculous scheduling to cram in as many flights as possible. There get out clause (when chaos ensues) is to blame BF.
At Gatwick, during the busy summer, the busiest time for BF used to be between midnight and 3 am. It was often the case that between those times 3-5000 passengers could arrive. Cheaper flights etc, the abuse we took was unbelievable, no thought given to how many had arrived at the same time.
