The point is to buy people that are talented but unproven. Therefore cheap but better than their price. Southampton buying VVD from Celtic is a good example. Or Kante when Leicester bought him etc.

As much as you Love AWB, - and I do too, his value = age x potential x remaining Contract + EnglishWeighting.

for Example, We can buy someone with more experience who is as good(or better) as AWB is now, maybe without the potential to get as good as AWB will get (and isn't English!?), who is on a smaller contract.
and I'm not talking a 30+yr old.

There you go again thinking that selling AWB = definate relegation. there are many ways to survive the PL. Blindly holding on to your best players when you do not need to may not be one of them.
