The point about honour killings was made by your twin, I was merely pointing out the hyperbole. You seem to say Irish people aren't proper immigrants because they look like some of the rest of us. Interesting view point. One of the points made earlier was about 'significance', it is only recently we have had significant immigration. Clearly that is wrong, it is cyclical. It isn't even correct for the 20th century and neither is it correct for the 19th century. Yet somehow we seem to be fed the line that we have just entered the dark ages whereas 30 years ago all was sweetness and light because we didn't have this dreadful, disruptive immigration I suggest swap the word Muslim for Catholic or Jew and you can find many historic parallels. The Irish are certainly very similar genetically to other 'celtic' types in the rest of Britain. Their impact was signoficant in terms of the friction it caused and the labour force it created. In terms of numbers, it is the equivalent of about 4 years of current net migration which goes on year after year. If that is the best you can come up with in terms of historic migration parallells then you better give up now.

How does this compare to other countries immigration figures? Edited by nickgusset (06 Oct 2017 9.00pm)

I consider New Addington to be a community. What is interesting is how its make-up keeps changing. Recently went through an African bulge, now Polish. They all seem to rub along quite well and definitely have a sense of community. Croydon seems to me to be a good example that we don't have to build communities on ethnic grounds but I do think shared schooling is absolutely crucial to break down the barriers. That is why I have concerns over recent policies towards single-religion schools. Yes I've heard there's a lot of black people in new Addington now. A few years after a large BNP vote, but they would've been mainly placed there rather than buy there.

In an earlier post I quoted some figure from what I called 'Immigration Watch'. That name is incorrect, it should be 'Migration Watch'. I recommend a browse of their website to read some sense about the situation.
