A lot of people are assuming - we don't really know anything, however, parish has got to have a plan b lined up, or at least looking forward otherwise he is failing at his job.

It's plain to see that nothing is changing - until a manager is backed and trusted with money to implement his plan, all we are doing is treading water.

It seems like a change is coming, players out in jan, only limited signings made and loans, this summer needs to be on point. Let Roy (or any manager) get his players, or he may as well be let go.

Excellent point. Unfortunately there appears to currently be a momentum heading in the wrong direction - losses to Brighton and Watford should be a wake up call.

As I asked someone before somewhere on here: had you heard of the current gaffers at Southampton or Wolves before they were hired?

Not knowing who could replace Hodgson does not preclude someone for voicing concerns that he should not be our manager next year.

So, you don't want who we have, but dont know who you want. If they do worse than the current incumbent, you will blame who hired him.

Pretty much the same as others who don't like Hodgson.

madness innit...and all because people think we have this god given right to challenge for 8th position, which in reality means f*** all difference from finishing 14th.

How many other managers would have poked up with last three transfer windows and relative lack of control over transfers ?

Burnley finished in 7th place last season having finished the season before in 16th place.Their net spend last season was just short of £13 Mill.Just an example that's all.

I understand that some are happy to settle for mediocrity and wouldn’t mind finishing fourth from bottom every season as long as we stay up.
For me I would like to see evidence of progress which doesn’t seem unreasonable.
People say Roy hasn’t been backed in the transfer market, but we have retained all of our star players unlike say Watford, Leicester and Everton who have lost Richarlison, Mahrez, Kante, Lukaku, Stones.
Roy himself is adamant about the strength of our squad.
People are entitled to ask questions about our appalling home form and why we are so poor on set pieces (defending and attacking).
I’m not saying he’s a bad manager but this season I would like to have seen more evidence of his tactical prowess and ability to positively influence games.

it's all about mindset.

8th is a better reward in terms of prize money.

8th is a better platform to build on in terms of finishing 14th

8th position each year could attract a certain type of player, than say 14th which is almost flirting with relegation.

looking up is far better than treading water.

The mindset at palace should be to get to 40 points at record speed each year, wether it's after 31 games, 30 games, that should always be the goal. It would show progress from escaping the relegation zone, it would also show progress in climbing up the table - but the beauty in that goal is it doesn't purposely state 'we don't want a relegation scrap' or 'we are in a relegation and need to look up' it also doesn't say 'we want a top 8 or 6 finish' it just states we want to do better each season, which is the ultimate goal for any club.

Parish, however doesn't have the funds to sustain the club in the prem - it gets better each year, the prem, stakes are higher each year and the small blinds, big blinds are the base line that parish can't keep up with. Any major investor will want to play the hand they are dealt with, which is probably why the americans want out as parish is holding their chips.... damn poker advert next to me has influenced by metaphors.

Until we massively reduce our wage bill, this isn’t going to happen.
