Histrionic lobbying, sir, on your part. We give the EU £18mill a day in real terms once the rebate and others factors are included but we get way more than that back through lower costs in shops, etc, because of our membership. Edited by Kermit8 (12 Apr 2016 12.54pm)

Did we not trade with anyone else before and will people refuse to do so were we to vote out? We would have had our own pre-EEC deals with Canada and the US. Why could a new trans-Atlantic deal not be extended to an independent Britain? Edited by johnfirewall (12 Apr 2016 2.51pm) Whilst we are in the EU we cannot make deals on our own.Consequently we have no trade deals with allies such as the USA,Australia or India, or important growing economies such as India and Brazil.Instead of making a deal which is beneficial to the UK, we have to wait for the 27 other countries to agree to it.

The "In" campaign are continually banging on about how much worse off we would be if we left, how much weaker we would be, how more dangerous the world will be, blah blah blah... It's all cobblers. Nobody knows what it will be like if we leave. One thing I do know, and that is if we vote to leave, our government will be back in charge, making laws that benefit the UK. If we stay, we will end up being more and more under the thumb of unelected and unaccountable foreigners. Cameron's pathetic "renegotiation" isn't worth the paper it's written on. Vote to remain, and the EU parliament can, as they have threatened, block what minor concessions that were agreed. Making the whole pantomime a complete waste of time. Our parliamentary system is not perfect, but at least we can vote out whoever is in power. I agree with the desire for democratic accountability but to be consistent Brexit supporters must surely also campaign for the abolition of the House of Lords, the Monarchy and a reform of the voting system as well.

Latest IMF report backed up by a leading world economist has a forecast which is pretty bad if a Brexit occurs. Well worth a read for both sides. Edited by Kermit8 (12 Apr 2016 9.26pm)

Guess it would be pretty bad for them if they couldn't rely on our payments, just like the other EU countries having to stump up to keep their private club running without our contributions.

HAHA you really have turned to the dark side I remember posts of your professing not to be lefty blah blah. You go about accusing posters of "histrionics" and your doing exactly the same thing to suit your argument, but when anyone dares point out the flaws in your argument, as becky has done already with that load of old woof from the IMF, we are all stupid froathing at the mouth racists. You sound more and more like Corbyn with each passing post. Ohh and just to show I did bother reading your link this is from it. in the same post you accuse the poster of histrionics. in relation to the money we pay the EU. "For context, that is more than the annual budget of the Home Office, which spends about £9 billion a year. It’s around a tenth of the budget for the NHS in England. It’s also enough to reduce the basic rate of income tax by 3p in the pound." That amount is 12.9 BILLION which is after the rebate that THATCHER negotiated in 84,and is in effect enough money to give everyone in the UK £200. My original comment stands im afraid old chap.

Frankly, I feel that it would probably prove cheaper to exit now under our own terms than wait to be handed an enormous bill when the whole operation all falls apart, as has happened eventually with every artificially created union in history...... and I feel it will happen sooner rather than later with all the current problems.

Really? Every single artificial union in history has fallen apart? Last time I checked the UK and USA still existed but maybe I missed some dramatic news overnight
