Les ferdinand just said on talksport that QPR received two bids for Charlie Austin, one from Leicester and one from Crystal Palace.

Both bids were player + cash deals that the club rejected.

Most probably BS, as no director of football is going to reveal that info in case it damages any future negotiations.

He did say it as i heard him say it myself,he was on the show live.

Sorry but still no director of football is going to make those comments unless it's to make a third party club that's dragging it's heels to come to the fore or to start a bidding war, where there will be only one winner.

Yes but its the last week of the window, and maybe Ferdinand is reminding buyers of the value of Austin? From a QPR point of view, surely its worth them flogging Austin and getting in 4 or 5 players championship level players, who can get them back to the PL.?

Suggestion in the papers is we're in for him again. Surprising considering the signing of Wickham (if true).

Financially I am nervous about all these signings with none going out. It's the emotional scars of two administrations.

Wickham out for a couple of weeks and at least one of either Gayle or Murray likely to go we could really benefit from a player like Austin who scored two with two assists today.

Not going to happen. The money these days in the Premier League is ridiculous. Next season each club will get 200 Million per season with the new TV deal. You are talking about a different era and we were in a different division in those days, the Championship

Newcastle have spent £48m in this window and brought in nothing. West Brom, West Ham and Bournemouth and others have net spends of £20m+ so we're certainly not extraordinary in this regard, plus we were expecting to still run a profit - definitely when the new TV deal comes in (touch wood).

Anyway, I'd expect either Gayle or Murray to move before the end of the window anyway and maybe both if we were to spend on Austin which is bound to keep the accountants happy.

He damn well should be - at the right price which is not fifteen million.'

If they want Guerdiora then him plus 8m. is what I would go with.

If they want one or two other fringe players such as Mariappa and/or Bannan and reduce the cash element even better.

I am 100% certain Gayle and Murray are not the answer to scoring regularly but CA would get us at least 12 and possibly a lot more.

forget all this stuff about him being found out in the second half of last season. He is an instinctive and powerful forward who will score goals regardless and has done so throughout his career at all levels.

Wanting to keep Gayle and or Murray over Austin is allowing sentiment to rule one's judgement I believe.

totally understand your concern Laddo as the thought of those dark times upsets me. But we can afford Austin. Pretty sure we will sell players before end of the month which would part fund the deal. i'd be happy

If Gayle and Murray moved out, and with Guedioura moving to QPR as part of a player plus cash deal, then it would make sense, and represent a financially prudent striker upgrade. Lots of IFS in this scenario though!

Odds on Charlie Austin coming to Palace have dropped from 33-1 to 8-1 on Skybet in the last 24 hours. Charlie Austin has a young family and only moved into a new house in West London last year.
He is just what we need and we could suit him if we continue our good start to the season. This will go to the wire but QPR must sell, if they wait till January his price drops further.
Pardew is putting Murray and Gale in the shop window and hoping they score a goal so there price increases, but they will go once we land Charlie.
