After Mrs T. resigned, she asked for an honour; not for herself but for Dennis, who became a Baronet in 1991. Interestingly, he is the last person outside of the royal family to be granted a hereditary honour. This obviously passed on to Mark on Dennis's death, so another member of the House of Lords who gets lost easily (though with most Lords this only occurs because of senility). A man with some very dubious views, and friends with some very odious people, with views that National Socialists would have found too right wing.

The "Odioius people" are some of those that the biased BBC have approached to pass comment on Margaret Thatcher ! The BBS have shown their left-wing credentials by dragging Thatcher haters out for interviews. Disgraceful bias in their coverage of Baroness Thatcher's death.

True, but the signs of recovery started in the years prior to the conservative victory anyhow. The ability of governments to direct ecconomy's is very limited. Almost certainly the next government inherited an ecconomic situation in recovery, from an all time low (which had affected labour and conservative governments). You talk about 'saving the country millions with British steel' but that doesn't include the social costs or the financial costs of benefits. Peoples whole lives were essentially ruined, and thats why people who regard life as being more than a cheap fiscal value didn't like her. Her policys ripped apart British communities creating unemployment black spots across the country, and offerig nothing but a life on benefits in return.
What was the alterantive, carry on with the rest of the nation being held to ransom by unelected (by non union members) millitant groups that had a political agenda. There were a great deal of Britian that had become sick of subsidising jobs just to keep unemployment down, which is basically what the steel and mining was all about. It became personal between her and Scargill, which as a politician it shouldn't have done, but he needed to have his power checked. More should have been done to regenerate the communities that suffered, rather than saying 'they'll find new careers...eventually.

Hopefully her legacy will die with her. We are still suffering from her menage a trois with Reagan and neo liberalism.
See that nasty unemployable anti-social chav drinking too many alcopops and holding a nasty pitbull? It didn't exist in early 1979. But, by early 1989 the first crop were about to be released onto society. And her three boyfriends aren't much better.

And equally harsh about the BBS. You are the love child of Stirling and Jiminez, admit it!
