The only reason Trump faces charges is because the Democrats are in power. When Trump likely comes to power.....if he chooses to be as low as Biden's administration....he will ensure Biden faces the legal music. I'm convinced the only reason Biden is running is because he knows that by forcing the Democratic establishment to support him he ensures he stays out of prison.....He knows exactly what's coming the moment he loses power. It's the reason we are seeing several Democratic supporting figures retire and if Trump wins I think they are getting out of Dodge. But by running Biden gets the whole establishment to.....'fortify' (their own word) the election again....giving him the best chance. Edited by Stirlingsays (13 Jan 2024 9.09am)

The only reason Trump faces charges is because he did things that support those charges. Nothing to charge = no charges. Given the way he has turned each court appearance into a campaign and fund raising opportunity the Democrats would be nuts to have engineered it. If Biden has done anything remotely similar then he deserves to face the music. There doesn’t appear to be much music coming towards him at the moment. Just a lot of discordant and loud noise. I am convinced Biden is running as a stalking horse. A feint to keep Trump from attacking the real candidate. He will stand down citing ill health, the need for a change or to help his family. I have no idea which Democrat supporting figures are retiring and preparing to flee. I wish a few Republican figures would.

Your posts seem to get more and more bizarre. "The only reasons why Trump faces charges is because the Democrats are in power" - was it the Democrats who undertook fraud in his business over decades? Was it the Democrats who staged 6th January, the call to the Georgia Governor to try and overturn the vote, the payment to Stormy Daniels etc etc.

Neither Iran nor the US want full scale war. Iran though does want to remove the USA from the Middle East and uses surrogates like the Houthis to achieve it. A tactic which until now looks to have been successful. Yemen is not being attacked. The Iranian supplied Houthi bases are. It’s a big change of response by the USA. Us supporting it is just a token. What happens next is the key. Will Iran stand the Houthis down from attacking shipping? If not then we can anticipate enough direct action on their capabilities to stop them. Ultimately the best solution seems to me to accept, for the time being, that the economic cost of ignoring Suez and diverting shipping to the longer route must be borne and for the USA to stop its unrelenting defence of Israel so it is forced to face up to the reality of being surrounded by people who don’t accept their right to the land . If the USA is serious about “putting America first” this would be the best way of demonstrating it.

"The only reasons why Trump faces charges is because the Democrats are in power" - was it the Democrats who undertook fraud in his business over decades? So let's get this right? You think that Trump is a businessman who commits fraud.....Errrrr....Hello? Hello? Is anyone there? Most of the political and business class in America commits fraud. Your 'democrats' have Trump up for fraud for inflating the price of a business property.....Are you serious....You literally have no business nor private individual charged who visited Epstein's peado sex Island....here's a clue, one of them is a former Democratic president.....Yet you want to go on about Trump being up on fraud charges when most of the Democrat's donors pay hardly any tax....what a joke. Biden is a multi millionaire....unlike Trump he didn't make that money in business but via being a politician. A political class all on insider information on the markets making them millions and you're going on about Trump inflating a property price. Fraud! Gimme a break, which egg did you just hatch from son? Originally posted by nead1
Was it the Democrats who staged 6th January, Well, General Milley and the FBI will have to answer questions related to that once Trump gets in power and we will have a clearer picture as to what happened....including the pipebombs....instead of just the Democrat narrative. the payment to Stormy Daniels etc etc. I believe that happened, despite his denials....but so what, I couldn't give a damn who Trump was banging....that's between him and his wife at the time. Just as I didn't give a damn nor agree with the attempts to impeach Clinton for sex with his intern....which he also lied about by the way. Originally posted by nead1
The answer, of course, is no. What Trump has coming his way is entirely self generated and reflective of him and his values as a person. The answer is you don't care what's true, just as long as Mr Mean Tweets doesn't come back. Originally posted by nead1
You mention Dr Fauci; this, of course, is the man who tried to steer a sensible response vis a vis covid based on the medical situation/science. He probably failed but it showed the US people just how incompetent Trump actually is. His ability to run anything and demonstrate steady judgement - absolutely essential qualities in a world leader - is entirely lacking as he has shown time and again. Yeah, poor little Fauci, didn't have anything to do with his department funding Wuhan gain of function (he did)....Poor little Fauci....didn't make millions from being part of the system that approved drugs for the pharmaceutical industry. Yeah, poor sweet innocent Dr Fauci. Yeah, hasn't told one lie to Congress....didn't lie about masks, risk assessment or anything.....Funny how he's retiring now that Trump has a good chance of coming back. We haven't heard the last on that one either. Edited by Stirlingsays (13 Jan 2024 3.18pm)

They would be really stupid to not do their due diligence and their own valuation. Unless trump leant to himself I can’t see the problem. It’s irrelevant how much he thought it was worth. Anyone remortgaging has a valuation by the lender at the lower end of the loan market. None would be silly enough to use the word of the borrower and if they did and it bit them it’s their own fault surely.

If someone at the lender was complicit does that answer, or raise, questions? Does it matter? Well it being unlawful to do it apparently does, whether or not it affected anyone.

I haven’t read all 511 pages on US politics but have to say the general opinions and comments mirror the divide that is everyday life in America! The left and right extremes of both parties are so far away from reality it is impossible to see a positive way forward! The media and big donors drive the narrative and influence thinking! There is no such thing as a yes or no answer in US politics! Whatever the results in November life will be very different depending on who wins and safe to say it will have a knock on affect to life in the UK whether you like it or not!
