Border checks set to rise and UK relaxes rules for imports
12-Mar-2021 By James Ridler

More checks for products entering the EU, relaxation on goods coming into the UK and a decline in exports to the continent has caused concern among the food and drink industry.

That would be far more accurate than a leave tory rag extolling brexit to the point of complete delusion.

Obviously if your trade collapses to near zero and recovers 0.4% it is still disastrous unnecessary self-harm.

Why?

Why would a pro-EU think tank do anything other than promote their pro-EU vision? Why do you think they would want to portray our decision to leave the EU as a positive one when they say:

We have always been and will remain a pro-EU think-tank.

So it's more a PR agency than a Think Tank?

What makes me giggle is when people still describe themselves as 'Remainers'. LOL. And then have the audacity to accuse us Gammons of living in the past?

Rejoining the EU is a perfectly valid political ambition to promote. Sing it out loud. Be proud of that.

But to proclaim yourself as 'Pro' can only come with the flipside of being 'Anti' something else. Leaving me to make the conclusion that this Think Tank actually want the UK to fail, to become lesser than because it had the audacity to leave the EU.

Looks like Johnson's deal will be ratified, which I guess is some sort of legal seal.

As it is so one-sided and advantageous to the EU it should be a formality.

I read that Versailles, the post WW1 treaty that led to the rise of Hitler, was never actually ratified by the USA congress.

What a false comparison!
Also, you wanted the UK to take a tougher line with the EU did you?!
There really is no end to your nonsense.

I know, and that attempt at European unification failed too, as did the next one, the ten before that and the current one too.

Well:

"Mr Barnier, said to want to become the French president"

So, he would be stirring up people's emotions, so it's a non story, an election is looming.

However, this is actual reality, not just a remote possibility, the Border Farce hasn't changed at all, even before 2016 it was common to see such unacceptable service blaming those who are paying and never those who are being paid

I am afraid to say you do not know what you are talking about. Passengers are fully aware of documents required to show on arrival, if they choose not to have them ready, whose fault is that? This is what is leading to delays. If you have worked at an airport you will know that scheduling of arriving flights is ridiculous, solely to make as much money as possible, no concerns for passengers or staff.
With regard to Heathrow there is enough BF staff, they have staff from 5 Terminals working at 2, staff from Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, Bristol are going there on a daily basis. Not making this up my wife is BF and does it! I was also BF for over 30 years so am fully aware of what happens regarding scheduling. Don’t place the blame unless you know the full facts, although I appreciate that doesn’t suit your agenda.

BF told the media they are finding 100 forged vaccine documents per day.

So people arriving (back) to this country think they can avoid quarantine or paying for tests by giving staff mickey mouse photocopy certificates.

I hope these people are severely fined.

And speaking of idiots when I came back from Poland in September I reminded our group to do their Passenger Locator form online before we even got to the airport in Krakow. They all had bar one loud mouth know it all.

Luckily he wasn't on my flight he insisted he did not need to do it and would sort it out at Manchester airport if need be. Well all it takes is to have 2/3 idiots like that per flight and you can see why BF staff are struggling with the volume.

Unfortunately for the rest of us who obey the rules we may get stuck behind these idiots.

I have a lot of sympathy for BF staff

Indeed. Airlines should check (haha) that all documents are in order before boarding. They are fined if passengers arrive without them. Unfortunately it is more than 2/3 per flight. Passengers are fined if they approach BF desk without documents. Of course this then entails BF Officers having to leave the desk to complete the paperwork. There are also Officers stationed at entrance to Arrivals Hall to assist passengers to complete forms ( shouldn’t be necessary). There have been instances where passengers have been arrested for refusing to complete the forms ( mainly Brits) all thus takes BF Officers away from their duties. But hey let’s not blame anyone but BF

You could also ask why are there so many passengers seeking entry? It is surprising how many adults have business interests in the Caribbean and gave to take their children with them!! BF fault?
