The behaviour of the stock market is fascinating right now. They've pumped trillions into it which has made investors more comfortable with sitting tight. Maybe as things pick up that will be enough to help weather the covid storm, or perhaps the house of cards will come falling down as the past few months have come at an enormous economic cost. Reality might once again hit further down the line. That could be post election though if the money printer keeps on printing.. Ultimately though if you want to come out of economic turmoil you need investment above all to get out of it. So keeping the investors on side I would imagine is a priority. Although I do admit I'm not an economist.

Back in the eighties and nineties I was working in a bank unit that supported Reinsurance companies. Most people don't understand what they do (insurance company for insurance companies or a bookies bookie). At the time I was forever explaining what reinsurance is now that is behind me I keep bumping into people who worked in the same field e.g. 2 of my neighbours. I think this is where I learned to become an alcoholic the brokers and underwriters were always entertaining us.

We ran a letter of credit scheme for the UK market that allowed them to do business in the US. Swiss Re being one of the big boys didn't need it. Edited by Badger11 (05 Jun 2020 3.24pm)

The Deviant Left now dominate almost the entirety of public discourse. Almost every arm of the establishment is bending a knee to it. How the f*** did it get to this?
We have the Reagan era to thank for the current state of broadcast media in the US at least. Although, I daresay it's likely we would've arrived here anyway... It was under his administration that the FCC's "Fairness Doctrine" was dissolved... not to be confused with the Equal Air Time provision, the Fairness Doctrine required holders of broadcast licenses to present both sides of a story. Once this was gone it allowed Murdoch to sow his seeds and so Fox "News" was born. Of course, media has changed dramatically since. Broadcast is but a drop in the ocean...

Good old Christian style shaming, just for existing. Great way of controlling the masses by telling them it's a sin to exist. Please tell me this is fake.

Seconded. It's unfortunate but he's a bloody idiot and if the Police stopped for idiots who stand or gets in their way they can't operate. The Police involved should not be suspended at all. Edited by Stirlingsays (05 Jun 2020 12.44pm) Really? In my world at a minimum that's a Safeguarding issue and happens to relate to a rather old man. So let's say he has dementia for example. Did they act correctly? In any case, having pushed him enough to fall not only did they not check up on him (despite the horrendous crack sound from his head), the senior officer pulled a colleague away from doing so. He is now 'stable but serious'. This is just bad. Bad Policing, bad training and bad morality. And it will play badly in the media and with the populace.
