'All be over by Christmas'. Where have we heard that before, WW1 (I remember it distinctly). Things like giving Botham a peerage really already making me feel positive and upbeat. Going over the top, the blitz spirit, Headingly, time enough to finish the game and defeat covd-19 too.

Take a look at this table and see how fatal it’s isn’t for those without pre existing conditions. And in the last week, an extra 5 covid deaths in English hospitals (excluding those with serious existing conditions), 3 between 60 and 80 years old and 2 over 80. None under 60 years old. I wonder how many people supporting this are in danger of losing their job and maybe finding no work and losing their home. We really should never do anything ever again. Just let the key workers crack on for ever. Attachment: 945A069D-AB93-494B-A79D-EDC2BB39E1BD.png (279.68Kb)

Good times create weak men.

I’m not the most political person, so please shoot me down if necessary. But I do love a conspiracy theory.
“This is a crisis, a large crisis.... in fact if you have a moment, it’s a 12 storey crisis, magnificent entrance hall, carpeting throughout, 24 hour portage , and an enormous sign on the roof saying “This , is a large crisis” - Edmund Blackadder |

Isn’t it 0.03% death rate and yes, I’ve seen old, not new twitter accounts, of relatives or nurses, say their relative or patient had Covid recorded on the death certificate or cause of death. Unfortunately this s*** cannot be addressed properly until the end of the year, when this year’s total of deaths from everything are compared with 2019’s, and then compared with other countries. Even then it’ll take months of campaigning and protesting on Twitter before the MSM take notice and then finally the government. Unfortunately they’ve got everyone by the b0ll0cks, or the nation’s lack of.

2 younger females in the wine aisle yesterday talking about their masks, touching the front, moving them around during their shopping. Laughable. Just wash your hands before touching your face again.

Number of Covid recorded deaths for last week I think, split by age. But schools must stay closed and not many people of working age back working. Attachment: 0E367A20-7B87-419D-A1A9-54A8C89E0750.png (467.28Kb)

Even that is arguably not a good measure because the flu season deaths just before Covid were extremely low, so a lot of the deaths would’ve happened months earlier anyway. And if Covid was t diagnosed and happened in winter, it would’ve gone down as a bad flu season. Why we trashed the economy for this long and caused so many other deaths will never make sense in the future. There was always a good case for enacting sensible measures early that limit spread to the point of inconvenience territory rather than just shut down. Good hygiene in business, a degree of distancing, masks in certain environments, no mass gatherings and so on. It was instead an all or nothing non-approach of the Cheltenham Festival one day and a world on pause the next. The government saw what was happening elsewhere... and did nothing. It's also important to consider that, especially in the states, this is being used as a huge redistribution of wealth. 'No crisis should go to waste' as the saying goes. The government are throwing the crumbs to the average Joe and giving trillions specifically to companies on the stock exchange to stop it tanking. But the stock market is not the wider economy. They're basically throwing trillions in the direction of their mates, in the form of 'loans' that do not actually have to be paid back. As per usual it's not corporations or rich that will be suffering - they'll do just fine out of this - it's the man on the street. Combine that with a society that was already geared towards credit and living paycheck to paycheck and, beyond covid, it lifts the lid once again on a rigged game. We're told to clap key workers and to appreciate the kind of person who keeps society ticking over.. but they're the exact same people who always get shafted.

Agree. All social programs and benefits will suffer, unless we never pay it off of course.

At some point interest repayment rates will be set and only time extensions allowed. Have you heard of the debt jubilee concept? I think some version of that will have to be implemented in the future. Maybe the increasing automation will play a positive role....if we ignore the job losses.
