LOL Is there such a thing as a frivolous crime for any senior politician let alone someone like Trump? Surely we need to hold those we elect to make the law to that law? Without compromise, fear or favour, or regardless of the consequences.

If anything he has done deserves charges and he is found guilty without any extenuating circumstances then he deserves punishment. Joe has to be held to a higher standard of no extenuating circumstances but I don’t think there is much for him to be concerned about. All he seems to have done is to do what every father should do, and have supported a troubled son.

Poll data shows Trump ahead. Probably further ahead that shown as Trump out performed the polls in the last two elections. [Tweet Link]

Nonviolently? It seems memories are conveniently very short, just as the arch-diverter Trump wants. Sad that some of us here, who are generally more astute than that, fall for it. Did no one see the videos of people entering the building by force or resisting the efforts of the police to stop them? Did no one hear the threats that were made? That they were unable to carry them out doesn't mean they weren't violent. If evidence of any other crime is found elsewhere then I expect and hope it would be prosecuted in exactly the same way. You first though need the actual evidence.

Listen to these people. You had a minority of people who were using violence....not with guns or knives but being violent all the same. However, these clowns want you to think think that was an 'insurrection' that intended to take over the US government. It's been said before and any person with more than two brain cells is well aware that 'insurrections' require a physical taking of important military and administration buildings around the country. This can't be done with fists or with just one building it requires guns and shooting people....a sodding army. The only person shot that day was a women protestor and it was the security officer that did it who the Democrats quickly whitewashed......the force who carried the guns that day were not the odd one or two protestors who carried but didn't use but the security forces around the building....as is to be expected. But it doesn't stop liars from lying and they haven't stopped since. We see why in their attempts to stop Trump from his democratic right to stand. They are deeply pathetic and they are going to get everything they deserve.....but it certainly won't be what they wanted. Edited by Stirlingsays (04 Jan 2024 7.24am)

Total US public debt tops $34 trillion The total public debt of the US federal government has reached $34 trillion for the first time, the US Treasury Department said Tuesday. The new milestone came about three months after the debt surpassed the $33 trillion mark. And the cost of government borrowing keeps going up because of the Federal Reserve's campaign to raise interest rates, while spending remains above pre-crisis levels, and tax revenues declined last year - all of which are worsening the country's financial outlook. As predicted and as stated before they took office, the Democrats are a disaster for America and the wider world.

Whether you regard what happened at the Capitol Building as an “insurrection” or not depends on your politics. This is an interesting reflection on the historical use of the term and its application to that event:- Whether it eventually will legally be so defined is a diversion which must not be allowed to obscure the tragedy of what happened. We all saw that, although some now pretend not to and wish to whitewash the actions of those who stormed the building to try to overturn a democratic vote having been encouraged to believe it had been interfered with by a President who could not accept defeat. The repetitive claim that only the security forces were violent beggars belief. They were small in number and facing an angry mob issuing threats against the lawmakers and occupying their offices responded with remarkable calm, restraint and fortitude. That only one person was actually shot is a testament to that. These weren’t just protesters. If you want to really see whitewashing look no further than those who describe people who force their way into the heart of government to physically threaten the lawmakers as “protestors”. Protestors hold banners and campaign. They act peacefully and within the law. Rioters and insurrectionists form mobs and violently occupy buildings. Trump’s role in this is clear to anyone with their eyes and ears open and a functioning brain. That it should be legally tested seems the least that he deserves. That he is even considered as being suitable to become President again I find incomprehensible but then many things seem like that in US politics. That anyone here has sympathy for his position I find shameful. We have the benefit of perspective which enable us to see the danger to democracy that this man embodies.

People like this aren't worth the discussion. They are famous for being the source of discord yet when things get physical they are hands off and plead innocence. What is going to happen in America is inevitable. Those that will be blamed won't be blamed for nothing. Edited by Stirlingsays (04 Jan 2024 9.49am)
