Ms Le Pen has vowed to pull France out of the euro for years, but in remarks to Reuters news agency she broadened her vision, suggesting that Europe could return to a basket of recognised national currencies, linked through a common currency system like the Ecu, used before the introduction of the single currency in 1999.

Under this model, France could reintroduce a currency such as the franc, while maintaining economic relationships with the eurozone.

other news on Le Pen and les pennies: On Tuesday, she also modified her position on France’s departure from the eurozone. While Le Pen has long said that, if elected, she would hold a referendum for France to leave the European Union — to Frexit, if you will. But she now believes France should return to the French franc, yet still remain in a common European currency.

Le Pen also has suggested she would step down if she were elected but her referendum later to fail. At the moment, polls are not in her favor for either situation: She is not expected to win the presidency, and the French are not expected to want withdrawal from the EU. At the moment, however, polls are largely meaningless and should not comfort, for example, Ukrainians who would rather all presidents of major EU countries recognize their territorial sovereignty.

She is determined to hold a referendum and have a Frexit, so be very interested to see what you read.

Just heard that Le Pen aren't going to push for an EU exit but still want to be able to control borders.

Could it be that a right-wing anti establishment backlash leading to the break up of the EU is pie in the sky wishful thinking? Reckon what's happening in th UK regarding an EU exit may be putting others with the same ideas off.

Returning border controls to member states may not immediately kill off the EU but it's a near-fatal kick in the nads nonetheless.

The French are proud of the EU their idea after all.

The French election is supposed to work against extremes of right or left it looks unfair to us but its cool I think.

One way out of Brexit is to move there houses and flats you can afford and peaceful I am comparing to Croydon though.

New Ambassador to the EU is Sir Tim Farrow who is a fluent Russian speaker and worked a long time in Moscow.

Vlad P is appointing just about everyone around the globe.

One wonders whether Le Pen is being a typical politician and changing her view prior to an election in order to appeal to wavering voters.

Yes, I can recommend some nice places near St Denis in Paris where I'm sure you'd be welcomed with open arms.
