If things continue as it seems then with the power shifts and disenfranchisement, there will come a time where descendants of some will disown or change their family names....but like you say we will probably be pushing up daises by then.

Never had you down as someone who would be a fan of Cruella Willo. Disappointed to say the least.

Suella Braverman is on my wing of the party.

She was removed from office for speaking the truth. Sunak capitulated to the mob calling for her head.
Today has been a very bleak day in the history of the Conservative Party.

I am just about to depart to meet with fellow Conservatives on the right of the party.

Very amusing.

The Tories lost the election when COVID happened and they sacked Johnson. They just took out the only Tory who speaks the language that most people relate to.
This attempt at a move further to the middle will make the defeat even bigger and split the Tories apart I suspect.

Bring it on I say.

I would be surprised if Sunak doesn't face a challenge now as all those red wall MPs will be pretty miffed to be treated like here today, gone tomorrow.

Also it should be noted that Labour have done nothing to win back those voters. They wanted less immigration....Labour only offer them more of the same.

So any cheering by Labour fans has to be seen in the context of they aren't liked either, but they aren't the ones in power and so aren't currently taking the blame.

And Labour are of course lying throught their teeth about what they can do to improve Britain.

Sunak has picked a fight with the 'Right' of the Conservative Party and it will be no surprise if the Conservatives 'Haemorrhage' votes to 'Reform UK'. I know a number of grassroots members who are appalled by the latest announcements and will refuse to offer it any more support.

Alas Sunak has 'Lost the plot'.

Don't worry, Willo. Your pin-up girl will run for leadership and win. Then you'll be in clover, eh?

What I meant to write is: fret ye not. The object of your approbation will proffer herself as the principal figurehead of the Conservative and Unionist party.

Then you'll be a happy as sus domesticus in feculence.

I garland your florid articulation with praise.

I am now departing to meet with fellow Conservatives on the 'Right' of the party, a meeting triggered by today's dastardly announcements.

All exceedingly depressing.I am absolutely appalled by today's announcements and my view is shared by several grassroots members who will in all likelihood defect to 'Reform UK'.

I have been having conniptions about the latest developments and tonight will be meeting fellow Conservatives who are on my wing of the party.
There has been much wailing and lamentation in the Willo abode and my dear wife has commented that I have been behaving like an over-galvanised gerbil.

Thanks Willo. Please do that and encourage everyone you know to do likewise

Rise of the Remainers, WE will be raising a glass or 2 tonight for his side.

I agree it is unacceptable for one very good reason. Cameron will sit in the Lords but the elected MPs in the Commons will not have the chance to question him or debate with him on policy. They will have to make do with a junior minister.

Not a good look.

I used to think Cameron was a sensible pragmatist but he made such a huge error over Brexit that opinion was swiftly revised. I think he realised what a calamitous mistake it was and how history would hold him responsible for the resulting disaster.

So bringing him back speaks of desperation. It opens up the Tories to all kinds of accusations. On the other hand it is a crystal clear renunciation of the right and a signal that the Party is returning to the only place where it can possibly command a majority. It’s only short term. The Tories are racing certainties to lose next year. Cameron won’t be in post in a year’s time and unlikely to serve as a shadow so will again fade from view. This seems to me to be the opening salvo in the coming battle for the heart of the Tory Party. Will the right wing populists capture it, and see it become a declining relic, or will the moderate centre right regain control and be able to present a credible alternative at the election after the next?

Well, if you are talking about smuggled asylum seekers rejoining Europol would certainly help.

So, what is your opinion on her 'Lifestyle choice' pronouncement?

It's a bit like people who sit in the middle of roads supposedly to save the planet isn't it? Or those who march for anti-Semitic reasons veiled as being for humanitarian causes thousands of miles away from their location, or dress up as the opposite sex and try to force others to accept their distortion of reality, or claim everything as racist, or dye their hair and cut it short before screaming in public and trying to get anyone who criticises them 'cancelled', and many more of course.

It's all the same people, they just choose different avenues through which to behave as such. Funny how there's widespread endorsement of some of these but condemnation of others however. It's almost as if some nonsense and ludicrous behaviour is favourable for those in power and others not.

I have genuinely never actually read the books/watched the films but my conceptual understanding of 'The Hunger Games' would be useful here. Let people identify within any of these groups, put them on an island to battle to the death and see which one comes out on top. Perhaps those who do not participate can be considered as 'normal'? Hang on a minute, isn't the UK (minus N.Ireland) an island...

I am surprised at this analysis Nicholas. You are generally pretty objective but not this time.

I don’t think there is anything that connects the right wing counter-protesters to the other groups. Their primary motivation seems to be a desire to disrupt and cause problems and their stated concerns mere excuses.

I don’t agree with the tactics of any protester who participates in direct action which disrupts the lives of others but I believe their motivations are genuine. It’s their actions which are misguided. Many people aren’t marching for any kind of anti-Semitic motivation but for a genuine concern about the scale of the loss of innocent life. Let’s pass on the details of the others you cite but I am quite sure their motivations are very different to the right-wing trouble makers.

You may well not approve of the others but you must surely condemn those who just want to cause trouble?

You joining Reform would be the best possible outcome. It’s where people who think like you belong. You deserve to be represented but not by a mainstream party hoping for government. The Tories must finally rid themselves of the populist right if they are ever going to hold power again. It always was a fallacy that the right and centre right wings could co-exist and this has been proved many times in recent years. Time to be honest and depart.
