Will we turn into Crystal Meth Palace?
The problem with common sense is that it is not very common. |

I may not have written a book but from a lay point of view he makes me laugh. And as Matty has come to the conclusion I did - its free advance publicity for his album - I can't but help feel Matt is an insightful and authorative columnist. I would imagine from that piece that it looks as if the feeling in the team is that is is a load of fetid dingo kidneys or he wouldn't be chancing upsetting the new owner. What was your book about Baltz? Edited by sw16girl (22 Mar 2010 4:32pm)

Sorry to be evasive, probably should not have mentioned in the first place. But it was published and (god knows why) but it did exceptionally well in China (obviously translated!)

I really do not understand how people can say Diddy has been linked with Palace to benefit his publicity. He is a mega superstar, one of the most famous people in America, and one of the richest men in hip-hop. What the hell would he gain from being linked to us?! If he really was in it for the publicity, he would have made a story about a Premiership team, certainly not us, who let's face it very few people around the world would even know existed. I am not for one minute saying that I believe there is much truth in this, but to say it is to help Diddy's publicity is ridiculous.

I thought the same as Balthazar. Why would his people put a false story out about him buying a s***ty little club like us? There are about 242,000 Google results for 'P Diddy Crystal Palace', which is amazing. Imagine how many millions of pages there'd be if the story was about him buying Liverpool though! Something doesn't add up.
It was my dream to play for Palace and to make my debut. I've always played for the club so if I'm playing here, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. - John Bostock (Nov 2007) |

Maybe to tap into the London music scene, close proximity to talent, dual motive as well as helping the club and ultimately his finances?

If it is a publicity stunt it has worked extremely well. P Diddy to buy Liverpool isn't at all likely - it would cost too much and anyway it isn't even officially for sale - if the story has no legs it won't run. P Diddy to buy Palace because the name is a bit like his favourite champagne - nice little tweak that will get it published - it's just possible enough to get a lot of coverage. He does have form for this as well - a couple of years ago he announced at the launch of his perfume that he was thinking of buying a F1 team - he was at the time a "great friend" of Lewis Hamilton, now it's a football team and he is a "great friend" of David Beckham.

I didn't know that. Maybe it was for publicity but I still dont get how he thought that by dropping this hint now(if it truly was him) that he would get 1. much publicity or 2. that the story would still be either still around or even remembered come June when his album comes out.
