It's a pity therefore that despite repeating various defensive exercise routines to the extent that they should be second nature by now, the players still have no idea how to defend a corner or set piece. Well, that's where the obedience over performance undermines him.

As someone who really likes Roy, I think it would have been best for him to retire on a high at the end of last season. This season of disappointing underperformance, where all too often we look like a soft touch rather than a team really intent on winning anything, is a sad way to go.

He needs to go at the end of the season but don't think he will fall on his sword or Parish will have the balls to replace him

Strongly agree with last two posts about underperformance and defensive instability from set pieces.

We took a long time to get over the loss of RLC and Cabaye - Meyer is only a bit part player and Kouyate took a while to settle - we are below mid table and above relegation - the top end of our expectation spectrum - the lowest is the same position in the championship. I'd give Roy another year then boot him upstairs, we've had some amazing results this year, but the home form has to be addressed. And we need an upgrade on McArthur for next season, and I don't think that player is Max Meyer sadly. Roy's done a good job here over all, don't forget this club has not gone through a year in the top flight without fear of relegation since 1992 - we've linked up really well in some games in others we're a bit flat, scrappy or predictable, Roy gets 6 and a half out of ten from me, the negative points here are valid but a bit too heavy, Roy is not doing nor has he done a bad job here, far from it.

The biggest problem with getting a new manager is who would we get in? With our track record and the fact we got burnt so badly with FDB, the only managers left that we are likely to hire are David Moyes or Mark Hughes and this terrifies me! I don't think we'd be brave enough to gamble on someone untested in the league. We've under performed this year and Roy's lack of subs and unwillingness to break his loyalty to certain players is frustrating but I still think he's the best man for the job.
