I think I knew we were in the s*** during the 2nd Alan Smith era when Grimsby came to Selhurst on a cold Tuesday evening and beat us 1-0 with there only shot all game via a Kolinko error and our response was f*** all. Freedman's debut if I remember correctly and Jamie Smith, Morrison and someone else I think were immediately placed on the transfer list. Oh yeah and Forssell was booed by the crowd! Doesn't get much worse.

There's been so many!

Liverpool 1-6 opening day, bitter disappointment

Charlton at home the season just gone, so frustrating to miss a pen then give them the points at the death

I remember being 2-0 up against Port Vale must be 4 or 5 years ago, ended up 2-2

Most away games I've been to we play sh*te and lose.

I remember that, when Smithy went a bit mad and started transfer listing everyone. As I remember though it did the trick and we started playing well after that. Or has my damaged-by-Palace brain deluded me again?

Not the worst as far as quality goes, but I remember a ZDS cup tie against Chelsea the year after we won (1992? so was the match in 1993?) on a Tuesday night in January. It was nearly called off due to the frost, and in the 90th minute, with Chelsea leading 1-0, Palace launched a last attack - the whole crowd around me started cheering for Chelsea to avoid going to extra time and having another 30 minutes in the freezing cold!

Has to be against Bradford at home one evening a couple of years back. We were diabolical but they were even worse..... and naturally they won 0-1. Come to think of it, we do seem to lose 0-1 at home to rubbish teams at least 3 times a season.

Was that a Tuesday night and the Bradford scorer was Michael Branch?

If you thinking the same game i'm thinking then, yes, that was a complete pile of turd.

No that was right. He also told a story to the players of how Kolinko's sister had been raped (obviously he couldn't speak English) and attacked by a bear in Latvia..Very strange, but yes it did the trick...for about six games!

Hahaha I hadn't heard that before. we all know Dowie has some unique methods, but I hadn't realised just how innovative Smithy was!

Yes, that exact game! Was not the only time that year that we lost a game like that I don't think, but that was miles worse than any game I've ever seen, including the Crewe game last year.

Has to be losing at Huddersfield a few years ago. Can't remember if it were 7-0/7-1?

The ONLY Palace game I have left early!

0-0 against Norwich many years ago. It was on New Years day (I think) and it was really freezing with frost on the picture. Crap game, crap result and bloody freezing.
