I hope it never happens but if a thug breaks into your home don't tell the police that. Tell them you are a Trans person and someone has called you hurty words. That should get the blue lights flashing.

My home was twice broken into in the past. Both times whilst we were out. Thieves are generally cowards. They would find it near to impossible in my present home and any successful attempt would make a lot of noise and take time, cause my dog to alert me and my neighbours, some of whom are much younger and fitter than myself. It would also be captured on video.

So it would almost be worth seeing someone try. The resulting videos would make a good deterrent.

Perhaps because the US has states with many more local decisions and people making them? We just have Counties in England, and different methods elsewhere. It’s not comparable.

Obviously, that is your opinion, not fact, one MP per county 109, would work, with a massive saving, but of cause it would never happen, MPs would not vote for this, but if you could start with a blank piece of paper.....

I have never, to my knowledge, had a drug dealing neighbour. I don’t choose to live in neighbourhoods like that. A choice we all have if we try hard, and want it, enough.

I have though had a drug dealer living in one of my flats and a user living in another. So I am not completely inexperienced in what the implications of drug use are. Both caused me a lot of problems, costing me wasted time and significant losses.

The police were involved, but only on the margins. There is a major drug problem here in some of the most deprived areas. You might be surprised to know that Cornwall is the most deprived County in England and one of the poorest in Europe. The holiday makers are only here in large numbers for a few weeks.

That’s not to say the quality of life is seen as bad. Many would prefer to be poor in Cornwall than rich in London.

It wouldn’t work for me and would change the whole dynamics of our system.

Our MP is accessible. They have recently changed from Tory to Labour and I met the previous one several times as she tried to help with a dispute I have with a Ministry. She was discussing with the Minister. I am now waiting for the new MP to take up the case. It’s this type of constituency work which, though largely unseen and unrecognised, is the strength of our system.

Reduce the numbers and that could not happen. It would weaken, not strengthen, our democracy.

Then that person was a fool. You don't have to give a reason for refusal to accept someone's custom and he should have said as such. Anyone running a 'hospitality venue' should know this.

yup.

I am perfectly sure that any violent behaviour from Muslim gangs would be shown. There have been a few sporadic incidents of small groups carrying weapons but the only report of them being used turned out to be false. They are nothing when compared to the chaos caused by the right. The opposition to the riots has come from a wide section of society, determined to show unity and their disgust at the behaviour of the yobs. Many of those people are “white”! That opposition has been remarkably peaceful. It demonstrates what I know to be true. That the rioters, and those behind them, are a small minority and that most of us are tolerant and ready to work together. They provide great reassurance that there is indeed, hope, not hate.

Those who seek to categorise this as a “white” versus Muslim divide are factually wrong. It isn’t.

There was no disinformation about the alleged murderer. He was born in Wales. He is British. Again those are facts.

I have seen a lot of appalling comments in this thread. Comments that apologise for racism are complicit in racism. Those that seek to promote the idea of a “white” underclass under siege in their own country are also complicit in racism.

That they deny it just means their indoctrination in the politics of hate makes them blind to their true characters.

This is nonsense. There’s several online videos of weapon beatings. A group of Kurdish Muslims with long sticks, a guy who got a hammer in the head being 2 that stick in the memory, but there are more.

I agree OP has not been too clever with all of his choices. However, it is difficult to get away from the fact that, in our cancel culture, we are in the era of the witch hunt whereby you either conform or die.

Take Frank Skinner. Appeared on the Today Programme to provide a counter to Ricky Gervais, talking woke in terms of "compassion" with the inbuilt assumption that those who do not conform lack compassion.

Two months later Frank hosts his own R4 comedy show.

Actually, the show is OK. However, I can't help feeling the BBC felt the need to provide a counter and Skinner was effectively dragooned into providing it or else face actual cancellation of his show.

It had all the hall marks of House Un American.

.

Yes. Correct and point taken. However the main thrust of the thread is there. The guaranteed crucifixion of those found guilty of thought-crime.

HAVE THE BBC EVER APOLOGISED FOR CANCELLING JOHN LEYDON ? Aka johnny rotten

Weren’t they reported on the MSM though? I think I recall them too and I wouldn’t have seen online videos!

Well you said reports of weapons being used turned out to be false. That’s incorrect. Quite a few people were beaten on the ground by groups with weapons.
