Anybody know what happened to Wharton and why he was not in the squad? He was at the game but not involved, hoping it was a just a precautionary rest.

I suspect - nothing has happened to him. Wharton was not alone in not featuring on the bench - neither did Ward, Holding or Ahamada

From OG's post-match interview, it seems clear that the plan was to get 90 minutes into as many players as possible, hence the decision to only have youngsters on the bench. I do wonder if OG based his selection on the team he expects will start the Brentford game.

Guehi, Eze, Munoz and Lerma only return to training on Wednesday next week (just 11 days before our fist league game). I will be surprised if any of them are fit enough to start that game. Likewise Sarr who is also joining training next Wednesday. As for Mateta, he's still at the Olympics with a game against Egypt tomorrow and if France win that a final on Friday.

I don't think we'll have our strongest XI out until our 4th game against Leicester after the September International break.

.

A bit different to Barcelona’s when I did their stadium tour, they had a trophy room!! And it was a bloody big room

I'm sure that shield in the Palace cabinet is the 'Players' Player' award. On another shelf looks like the 'Hardest Trier' award, but it's not particularly clear.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

And if France lose, then a bronze medal match on Thursday. Either way, he could still make the Nantes game!

He could be given a break. Not sure how much of a break he had between end of season and joining up with the French Olympic squad.

Having now seen the highlights, one things for sure, Andersen’s had a mare of a pre-season, hopefully he’ll shape up before the season starts

I think even one of the cleaners was ahead of Benteke for that award

He did, although that pitch looked like it was made up of turf from B&Q that had been unrolled and plonked down just before kick-off.

It was(not from B&Q). Pitch was laid on top of the stadiums normal AstroTurf & it showed.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

I was watching the highlights of the game earlier today, and one thing that really struck me (aided by those rather ghastly wet-look, cheap clingy nylon yellow shirts) is how much the overall physique of nearly all the players has improved. Seemed everyone now has a well defined 6-pack!

Has Ollie been addressing the lack of fitness with heavy sessions in the gym 'cos some of them are looking really bulked up from last year?

I thought so too. It must be some training regime because Ayew looked taller to me as well.
