I cant remember us being this far "ahead of the game" come any transfer window, clearly lessons from past transfer windows have been learnt - the recruitment team have been in place for a while so experience in that arena has been garnered & I think, possibly for the first time in a while we have more of a clear picture of what exactly we are looking for, led by having Dougie F & Olli G working together for a common goal. Most previous seasons as soon as the season concluded we were concentrating on renewing contracts & senior people getting away on vacation. OK maybe thats a generalisation, but I guess what I mean to say is, this is really starting to feel like a professional club that knows what its doing.

We haven't signed anyone yet but it does look promising. I think the reality is that when we have the money we get on with it e.g. Textor's £80m window. Most of the time we are making unrealistic bids and hoping to get a bargain, understandably the selling club is in no rush to sell to us. This window we have taken out a short term loan which suggests we will be selling player(s) but rather than wait for that before we spend we can get on with it.

For me this summer is the start of the second phase of the new transfer policy which started a few summers ago when we went full tilt into the squad transition from old pros to youth and potential. With the purchases of Guehi, Olise, Andersen (plus Eze from the year before and Doucouré the year after). Since then, this will be the first summer where it's almost guaranteed that at least one of those investments will be sold (looking like Guehi for good money) and hence we can be proactive in growing the squad. For every player that leaves if we can replace them with 2 or 3 more of Dougie's gems then we'll be in a very good place with Glasner at the wheel.

But there's a new complication with Textor 'rumoured' to be selling his CP shares?

Makes sense. Guehi only had Championship experience when he came whereas this lad has had a good season in La Liga and has a Barcelona academy background. We'll still have the best part of £35m-45m to spend on others if we sell Guehi (who apparently wants to leave) and buy this lad. Furthermore, as I and others have said elsewhere, our run under Glasner was achieved without Guehi who only palyed in the Villa game and then out of position. Edited by doombear (25 May 2024 12.35pm)

In the Mail and on the BBC Gossip Column. Apparently undergoing a medical. Everything feels very ‘unPalace’ atm, in the best possible way.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

If we do sign him on June 1 I think this just shows that when we are serious about a player we get on with it. So when we see these click baits that we are about to sign a player who subsequently ends up at Wet Spam or Everton you have to wonder were we ever after him at all. Perhaps we don't drag our feet just make an enquiry don't like the price and walk away, meanwhile click bait claims we are desperate to sign. As for Click bait, how many of them were right about our new manager, by the way how is Steve Cooper doing

Think this a lot to do with Glasner wanting things done early. They probably know to a certain degree who's staying or going already .
