Well now, this is different, Villa want Olise . . . [Link]
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Are we going to get excited about every report about who wants one of our players? The summer is click bait heaven. There are only a couple of reliable sources for any transfer news. If I was any Palace player right now, I would be wanting to stay. I see little appeal in going to any of the big clubs when you can be a superstar folk hero playing every week at Selhurst Park with a good shout for top eight next season with a manager who is a proven winner. You might even get a big pay rise under the proposed new system. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (08 May 2024 12.19pm)

I am sure Raheem would be sooooo motivated to perform to his best level at Palace along with his 50% plus pay cut If Financial Fair Play mean the big clubs get lumbered with massive wage bills for deadwood players they can't shift on then that is a great development. Means they'll have less money to come and get the up and coming talent. No CL for Chelsea = no release clause ? LOL this is a very good point. Chelsea, Moan United and even Arsenal all have deadwood on big salaries they would like to shift. I hadn't realised Sterling was on so much we couldn't afford him on half his salary not that he's worth it. As somebody else said we should not be interested in big club bench warmers we are fishing in a different pond. However their financial problems may mean less competition for the players we want to sign. It's not just the big 6, Forest, Everton and Leicester are all rivals who may have limited funds due to FFP.

Short, uncertain career. If you were a young bloke with limited brain who has complete trust in his agent (who may have a vested interest in a transfer) and were only being tasked with doing the same job elsewhere..? Personally, I would stay too for the reasons you give. However, you could hardly blame a chap if he took the silver.

Olise has shown he has an old head on young shoulders when it comes to deciding where he wants to be. As SP alluded to when Olise signed the new contract, the agent was hardly involved. Olise is a canny lad, he will move when he wants to & to whom he wants.

And I think Eze is very religious and thus (one would hope) ethical and may see a move for obscene money through a different lens. Fingers crossed...

now that's one that does worry me. I hadn't thought of Villa, what they can offer him that the big 6 can't is regular first team football and Champions League. At Villa he could be the star player where as at the others he's just one of several big name players.

I wouldn't swap a fully fit and firing Olise for any player in the prem. Not Haaland, not Foden, not de Bruyne... nobody at Arsenal, United, Liverpool, Spurs...None of them. I accept he'll go and that will be very sad. But for me this is a moment for Josh Harris to realise what he has and capitalise. Olise could be a great of the game. And his supporting cast at Palace is almost there.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |
