Glasner has had the benefit of returning players and some very good new players who have now bedded in.
Judging him now is premature, to say the least.

We were good at the start of the season before we had all the injuries under Roy. Roy was hard done by simply because he didn't have the players available and the fans needed someone to blame.

Hopefully next season we can retain our star players and push on.

I'd have though that any manager of a team with Olise, Eze, Wharton, Decoure, Anderson, Guehi, Henderson/Johnstone and Munoz among its ranks should be expected to do quite well.

Football is 90% about the players and 10% about the manager.

Were we really good at the beginning of the season? As I recall:

Before the 2 key injuries in the Luton game:
1. we had won just 1 home game (Wolves);
2. drew at home to both Fulham and Forest;
3. lost at home to a poor Everton team;
4. got thrashed at St James Park without putting up a fight.
5. Hodgson blamed the youngsters in the Spurs home defeat

After those 2 key injuries:
1. Hodgson didn't seem to know how to set up the team to win matches so:
2. he attacks the fans when they reacted to the capitulation at home to Bournemouth.

Now you may think I must be anti-Hodgson. Not at all. I was one of his supporters through his first 4 year tenure and appreciated his cameo at the end of last season. I just think he lost the plot this season and that he should have departed earlier than he eventually did.

As for Glasner, he came in earlier than planned and simply got on working with what he had. I didn't hear him moaning about only having one fit CB in recent games.

Richards, Mitchell and Lerma are no slouches either and, hopefully, Franca will contribute a lot more next season
It is up to Dougie and the board to push on within the PSR rules whilst balancing any sales with putchases that produce a better overall team

Whoops forgot possible POy, JPM. Glasner should have plenty to work with

Lets not forget what a fantastic job Roy did for Palace with limited resources, unfortunately he ran out of steam and things turned against him, it happens to most managers over time.

Its too early to judge Glasner, yet. It was a morale boosting win at Liverpool, but we had the luck for a change and kept them at bay, it could easily gone the other way. He now has mainly midtable teams to play, then a better judgement can be made at the end of the season.

I wholeheartedly concur.

We have witnessed tactical changes with the 'Three at the back' defensive structure and more emphasis on forward passes and players in advanced positions, furthermore some of the one-touch passing seen on occasions has been a joy to behold.
It does appear that the players are enjoying playing under Glasner.

No idea if this article is factual: [Link]

but... if it is .... then, WOW, I am gobsmacked on how Hodgson and Viera thought about cementing the team dynamics for learning and self-improvement. To me, this is basic stuff and I assumed that it would always be like this. In my world, debriefing after client meetings, or after big employee meetings etc etc. is a core learning rigour. Maybe football still has a lot of catching up to do on how to lead and manage people.

Many years ago I read an article about a cup game, it was Liverpool & I think the other team was Spurs, the person telling the story was from the non Liverpool squad, he said that by some coincidence both teams had booked the same hotel prior to the game, in the morning they came down for breakfast & were sitting at a number of tables spread out all over the dining room, whereas the Liverpool contingent had pushed maybe 10 tables together & were having breakfast together all at the same time.

Yup wow, basic stuff. You do wonder when fans complain about what do they do at training and what happens with injuries. I always thought there was an element of grumbling not so sure now.

Turning up the day after a game should be mandatory. How are you feeling today? Any overnight muscle problems, let's talk about yesterday's result ....

I cant agree with that statement, for me 50/50, Patrick Vieira had all of them players, and Wilf, But that shows what happens when you have a complete Buffoon, with a record of failure as manager.

Thank you for this. No revisionism! We weren't awful at the start of the season, that's fair. But the team had serious flaws (fitness/set pieces) and Roy was completely undone by the injuries and had no idea how to retrieve it. I think his mindset didn't help. Far too negative.

we always need a bit of luck and for things to go our way against the bigger teams. Man City we had none (the pen that wasn't given and the Ayew chance he could have squared to Eze or Mateta would have changed that match massively). We were due a result like that against a bigger team and it happened to be last week!

I think I agree this. It is difficult to say this with so many spring chickens on this site, but Hodgson's age caught up with him. Had we not had the injuries, it would have been normal business. However, he admitted to feeling the stress and losing sleep over results, injuries and so on. Your body might just cope with that at 55; but at 75? Using Hrolf's ratio, we lost the 10%.

As I keep boring myself on, Glasner has a different approach to the player psyche. We saw order and regimen under Hodgson, but we also have that now. What we have that we previously lacked is a fight. That is what we were sadly lacking when we shipped all those goals and squandered all those leads.

That wasn't luck Painter, it was solid hard work. OK, Liverpool didn't take their chances, but even when they got them on target we were there to block them.
There was nothing lucky about our 20+ passing goal either. It was a goal that Brazil would have been proud of. Even got Kloppie just saying Wow. He was gob smacked. Plus Mateta was very unlucky not to score a brace.
And where did all that Palace energy come from? Has to be the effect Glasner is already having on our players. It was starting to be seen v Man City.
I agree its early to judge Glasner, but there are already exciting signs that are starting to uplift posters here.
