Mateta
Ayew Eze Olise
Wharton Lerma
Mitchell Andersen Ward Clyne
Hendersen

This has to be the best way of getting the best out of what we have to get points, its a bit Vieira at the moment Square pegs, i think Glasner, long term we be great for the club, i hope he gets the chance to prove that next season in the Premiership with the players to fit his ideology.

Given Ayew’s penchant for blowing hot and cold this season, especially since his return from Afcon, I think a period on the bench should be considered. He spurned a certain goal yesterday with JP and Eze lined up for the tap in and just stood around watching as De Bruyne ran passed him twice to bag two goals. Until then we looked as though we could get a point or three.

Mind you, Eze was no great shakes either. To beat The Scousers next week the whole team needs to be on their game and work for each other not moping around with their hands in their pockets. It would also help if an Arse / Citee supporting ref is appointed rather than the Manc (I see no penalty) we had yesterday.

Think Ayew was a favourite of Roy (not without good reason as he is/was a valuable player) and owed a lot to him. He may be more sceptical of OG and his approach. It seems to be the same as in any other organisation. Those who were favourites under the old manager are reluctant to accept the new one, those who saw no future under the old manager welcome any new own.

He isnt going to change his system, he has spent weeks implementing it. Changing, will show it doesnt work to the players, he cant do that.

Ayew will always drop to the bench when Eze and Olise are fit. Love him as I do, he isn't good enough to be starting week in week out.

It’s hardly surprising we’ve had a tough season, with injuries meaning Ayew is a 1st team starter.

As for OG’s tactics- still to be convinced this system works for Eze.

I know he isn't, lets hope it doesn't cost us dearly

I had thought that this new shape wouldn't suit/get the best out of Eze. Seems like I was wrong.

I also hadn't really thought Wharton would become out midfield playmaker to the extent his has. Wow. And obviously he's a stronger, more tenacious player.

Imagine him and Doucoure next season? No disrespect to Hughes - who I like alot more than some, or Lerma.

There have been signs in the two recent games that I may have been too hasty in my assessment that Mitchell and Eze wouldn't suit Glasner's system.
Mitchell has found himself in more forward positions without always looking over his shoulder as to what's behind him and he's more positive in his advanced play.
At the moment he lacks composure in terms of his final ball or shot , but I'm sure these are areas that he can improve on.
I think the key with Eze is getting the ball to him in space which Hughes and Wharton were adept at doing yesterday.
It also helps that there's plenty of movement around him with Olise, Mateta and Munoz.
Very encouraging.

My heart is in my mouth everytime I watch Hughes make a tackle

I agree, he does make some very tough tackles, and he picks up a fair share of yellows as a result, but we need his forceful temperament in the team.

He's had too many critics on here, usually without justification, but he definitely looks better under Glasner. In fact, the whole team has definitely shown an improvement, so whatever you're doing Ollie, keep doing it - it's working!

Is anybody else amazed at how quickly Olise has returned to top form after such a long term injury? Superstar.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Hughes suffers from unjustified criticism from certain sections of supporters, who don’t accept that not everyone is perfect, but his commitment cannot be questioned. In recent times Ayew, Mateta and Mitchell have all been written off, but now are valuable first team players.
That’s why people who know what they are doing are in charge of the team, not supporters.
