It's not about Palace it's about the HF as the only thing they are fanatical about is themselves
To put it into context.
Walking into the ground some kid wearing black comes up to you & says " oi mate give us £4 & you can rent this flag to wave during he game"
Not sure how many people would take them up on that other than for their kids,
I suppose they could get recycled if not used
Sell them down the coast to stick on sandcastles

Totally agree!

That letter they sent the club which basically read as 'give us back our banner or you won't see our little flag show that we've organized' just smacked of arrogance and over inflated self importance.
I'm not a fan of Parish but I hope he tells them to bog off and go join one of them palestine marches on saturday afternoons!

It's all a bit daft.
When I first started binging my son to palace about 14 years ago & the great atmosphere was created by the corner flag my son thought that the fanatics were brilliant.
As the years have passed my son is now 20 it's all got a bit embarrassing.
The numbers have dwindled & they are school aged trying to cling on to something which has passed
Bit like a tribute act of Pink Floyd playing at Butlins

The HF are a divisive lot.

Overall I'd rather have them than not.

Parish seems to have gone from fully supportive to ambivalence for no apparent reason.

Although they have attracted the ridicule of opposition fans ( as well as some of our own ), I find it interesting that Arsenal now have their version, the ' Ashburton Army '. And if ever there was an atmosphere that needed improving it was at that club.

I would suggest you need an atmosphere before looking to improve it I've long considered Arsenal fans to be 'the worst'. From anecdotal knowledge I think only MKDons come close.

As for the HF, I too thought they were fantastic to begin with. They generated a lot of noise and turned Selhurst into a place with real identity.

Not a huge fan of the poor mimicry of European 'Ultras', that's a tad embarrassing but so be it. Beyond that my only wish would be for them to be very much a part of a unified support, not a separate element that occasionally appears to deem itself superior and an unelected representative of us all.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I don't think that's how it's intended to look. And it's not the HF taking the identify away from selhurst. In fact the reason this topic started was because of a fundraiser and hours of effort put in to further engage the rest of the Holmesdale(which is still ongoing) and to further improve the atmosphere in the entire stadium.

The group is completely open and contactable and not separate from the rest of the palace fanbase, we all go for the same reason.

The group also hasn't shrunk - block b was dying a slow death by 2018 and every move made is one to involve people and improve the atmosphere. What annoys me is people moaning about the atmosphere and "Ultras" and "numbers dropping" and doing little to help it. That only calls out a select few pessimistic individuals though nick as stated in many messages the group is very appreciative of the backing the boys get week in week out - the best in the country.

All this is based upon the hf getting their way over a 3m banner, which i hope the club doesn't bow to your 'threats'. What are you going to do then? What, then, about peoples money?

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

We don’t know what the situation is with the banner, whether the sponsor has complained about its presence obscuring part of it’s potential marketing, and indeed whether their involvement is to be reviewed at the end of the season.
My solution would be to go all out on the last day of the season and fill the whole Holmesdale with the 4000+ flags and show the club what can be achieved. That then gives the summer break to potentially resolve things.
If the club/sponsor refuse to allow the banner back may I suggest that it is relocated at the top of the stand and hung from the roof. After all, if the whole of the Holmesdale is to be involved then there is a degree of logic in using the banner to advertise that the top tier is also involved.

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

I agree with a fair bit of what's been said about the HF, especially surrounding their idea of special treatment and representation as some sort of unique voice of Palace fans.

Nonetheless I think the move from Block B to the middle has been a good thing. The whole of Block E and most either side in D and F stand for an entire game which creates a more intense, supportive atmosphere. Their displays in the past have been very organised as well, not to mention impressive.

I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry.

I’m not close to the project but I’m guessing the flags will cost around the target goal in the fundraiser, I’ll attach an image of what I’m guessing the hopeful outcome will be if this goes to plan and the whole banner situation is sorted.

Some of us fanatics in other parts of the ground have been supporting for 40 or 50 years and believe me most of it was nt premier league. We are as valid as those who choose to bang a drum or wave a flag, just support differently so please don’t belittle us.

I didn't realise it took 'hours of effort' to spend someone elses money. As for your little banner I very much hope the club say no to it. What really makes you lot think you are more important or deserving of anything more than the rest of us?
Tell you what, If you get your banner I'm going to ask the club to let me have one. Then I'll consult a solicitor if they say no.
Starting to understand why the club wont allow it yet?

Well said, and spoken on behalf of around 80% of the match day attendance.
