Not that weak. Now 3 - 1 to Liverpool with injury time remaining

Good result tonight from our perspective,Luton losing 4-1.
Now Luton have the same goal difference as ourselves and we remain five points clear of them. All beginning to look more positive!!

United should have had a lot more goals when they beat them and Liverpool could have had a cricket score last night if it weren't for Luton's keeper and a bit of luck. They show a lot of spirit but if they keep handing out chances like the last two games the wheels may well come off their recovery.

Let’s face it, we shouldn’t have lost to them either, but that’s us all over this season

I don't like to wish ill of players, but Doughty hobbled off last night and had to be replaced and after Barkley he's probably their most important player...if he could just stay on the treatment table until after our game with them that would be good!

Wonderful to see Luton thrashed and suffer a humiliation last night, losing 6-2!!
Not too much to worry about Saturday week and sincerely hope Oliver's army can put them to the sword!!

Not a bad set of results over the weekend.
Not a single win among the bottom thirteen teams and some notable defeats with Everton,Forest losing.

I really do not understand the point of this thread people we are not going down.Lets look at this realisticly the bottom two are down , Luton are 8 points behind us and have not won a game in 11 games and those who were there on Saturday will see the reason why as they were very poor. They are not going to get within a country mile of us , Luton are relying on Forest and Everton getting further points reductions and if that happens they will be in a mini league with Luton for the third spot. So where does that leave us ? quite simply to accumulate as many points as we can to prepare for a good start for next year season. And that raises another issue in the remaining games, i read on another thread that somebody does not see us winning another two games this season . I am sorry i see the opposite , i only see us not having much chance in two of those games ,City and Liverpool.Apart from 5 maybe 6 teams i think the league is bang average , i turned up early Saturday and saw United they were terrible and i have seen West Ham recently who are also bang average, Throw in Bournemouth,Fulham, Forest Wolves and Villa are they really teams to fear ? i am confident that we will easily hit 40 points , So stop worrying what other teams are doing , and possible point reductions as the only place we are going is staying exactly where we are for this season at least

Thanks Stan. Love the optimism. I tend to agree that we will win some games before the end of the season and hit the 40 point mark as we have done in every season during this current stay.

In the last 5 games, we have gained more points than any of the teams below us have in their last 5. And..

we've only gained 5 points in those 5 games!

Forest and Sheff Utd are the only ones to have actually won a game in that period.

In that period it's been
- Brentford 1 pt
- Everton 2 pls
- Forest 3 pts
- Luton the 1 pt against us.
- The other two Burnley (1pt) and Sheff Utd (4 pts) are surely down already.

I do not see all four of Brentford, Everton, Forest and Luton overtaking us.

I think the point of this thread is some people are not quite as confident as you Stan!!

Although I’m with you, maybe not 40 this year, but I think we’ll comfortably get enough points. We were close to doing it Saturday, we were seconds from being 11 points above Luton and I doubt there’s any way they would’ve closed that gap on us

Wow, didnt realise Brentford were on such a bad run.

And just to think we should have got more points out of Chelsea, Everton and Luton.
