I met Freedman at his testimonial, admittedly a few years ago. I spoke to him just generally and he seemed very arrogant and full of himself. What with that and going to Bolton put me right off him. Andy Johnson was another one who seemed full of himself. Whereas Aki Rihalati and Sean Derry were very friendly. On other occasions I spoke to both John Salako and Keith Millen again both of them were very friendly. So this is not just a general rant against anyone but just my opinion on Freedman. And like someone said in a previous post, most of the players he has signed that have been successful were well known to the general football public.

Despite him being a palace legend scoring a lot of goals for us and obviously being a cut above a lot of poor players we’ve had over the years, I always struggled to like him in his playing days for us. Even on the pitch he always appeared to have an ego. He never looked happy and it always seemed to be everyone else’s fault, waving his arms around in disgust and moaning at his team mates.
Obviously a great little player scoring knocking on 100 goals for us, but I just never took to him.
But having said all that and with our current goal shy strikers, I’d love him and Clinton up front for us now

I would have thought Man Utd in any new ownership model would have looked for a director of football with CL experience or at least some European football experience in line with aspirations to return to being a top performing club -

He's done an Ok job. The good and the bad have been highlighted above. Twice a year his efforts come to the fore and shall we say the last window was not his most memorable. One of the best was overseen by Sam so you wonder.
His relationship with Roy is interesting but now largely irrelevant. I always remember Roy referring to him as Doug Freedman and wondered if it was a cheap put down, but that's not really Roy's style.
So maybe we move on with our Manager and DOF. I'll probably miss Roy more.

Him and Clint didn’t like each other apparently.

I couldn't agree more, the thought that United are going to look to DF as a pivotal part of hte rebuild is laughable!

He couldn’t do any worse than they have for the last 10 years!

Never been convinced by freedman with regards to our scouting department.

Except that window, we seem to heavily scout Scotland and Ireland nothing really anywhere else, let Textor suggest some, and raid bargain basement for gems.. oh and occasionally gamble on a big name at the end of his career.

saying that, the Squad isn't in the worst of shape, barring some glaring holes and lack of depth, which I'm sure the mgmt hoped academy Prospects can plug - and as mentioned elsewhere, we don't know how much DF was involved, and how many or 'his' targets were attempted/failed etc.

I wouldn't be too bothered seeing him leave, but it's all about the progression, and who/what replaces him.

I'd honestly back the fella in the pub to improve things there.

Our (his) recruitment has been a lot better than a lot of the teams in our division, Man united being one of them. This would be a great move for him, he'd be a fool not to take it, but I don't know whether him leaving us would come back to hurt us.

La la la your mum
