An interesting 'advert' just came up on my You Tube thread. Unlike anything I have seen before. Curious as to if anybody else starts seeing it.

Hamas have made a massive mistake. You attack a country which is one of the most military advanced in the world, which has a history of aggressive retaliation when attacked, doesn't care what the world thinks, and you are only going to come a serious cropper. Poke a hornets' nest with a stick, and you are going to get stung. Maybe Hamas saw Israel was politically vulnerable, had their eye off the ball, and decided it was their chance to get payback for the war in 1973. Whatever the reason, it will only end up hurting Hamas and the Palestinian people much, much more.

Israel is a country that is fully aware of the hatred those walled up in the Gaza Strip is (and lets not pretend it is anything other than a classic, in the original British sense of the concept, a 'Concentration' camp in which its basic utilities are controlled by outsiders) and yet they manage to just seemingly stroll over the border, massacre a load of very photogenic young people at a pop concert for peace and, as you so rightly say, prod a very powerful wasps nest. Israel is either suddenly very, very shoddy at defending its borders or else let this happen.

Hamas attacking inside Israel. And yet Hamas might consider they are re-taking Palestinian land stolen from them. “The unfolding events in Israel and Palestine are deeply alarming. We need an immediate ceasefire and urgent de-escalation. And we need a route out of this tragic cycle of violence: ending the occupation is the only means of achieving a just and lasting peace.”

Is it not Ironic that much of the suffering of one people then gets echoed 90 years later. Onto a different people. And that the former victims are now able to fly helicopter gunships over poor suburbs and genocide the place. Many kids who grow up in an abusive environment, do themselves go on to be abusers. Palestine does have a border with Egypt. Why doesn’t it get supplied from there? Probably because when Hamas took over via a utopian promise to the people it lied to them. Everything that goes into Palestine is controlled by them and inevitably is taken to help their efforts.

Israel's problem is that they are dealing with a radicalised population. You can have all the technological superiority you like but a lot of winning wars and conflicts comes down to how many men are willing to die....There are always plenty willing to do whatever they can to survive, but you win by taking the ground. Israel had that in their existential wars of the past but I suspect that their present generation is much softer and liberalised than those people. If they want to clear out those areas they is going to be a heavy cost.....How heavy will depend upon how much anti armour weapons Hamas have. I just hope that civilians have somewhere to go to escape this carnage.

Egypt supports the blockade of Gaza which is why there is no land supply. Tragically there are two sides which put retribution and revenge above peace.
