Five teenagers were stabbed to death in Croydon over the course of 2021. However, a year later, police figures showed no teen lives had been lost to knife crime in the borough in 2022. The last teen murder before today was in July 2021. Lives not Knives is a Croydon initiative that aims to make people aware of the dangers of knife crime. It has moved towards supporting young people into education, employment and training via: mentoring Edited by Mapletree (27 Sep 2023 9.38pm) I think MAZ on bbs has replied to this. Between August 2022 and August 2023 Croydon had more stabbing (211) than any other London Borough. These are those reported and not fatalities

I am not convinced there is anything special about Croydon. The North of Croydon has some bad areas for sure It is important that action is being taken to drive change and I believe Sarah Jones in particular is to be congratulated for that

I've seen on the news them moaning about stop and search being racially motivated and being racially profiled and in the same story 2 Black women moaning about a lack of police presence in their Community. You just can't help these people, they've been fuelled by this victim mentality. Fortunately and unfortunately for them, its only a problem within their own community. The best thing to do is don't live amongst them and let them get on with it.

Don’t think that word exists anymore I said the same thing to Keith Richards, Megan Fox and Zinedine Zidane when we were all having lunch yesterday. The stabbing in Croydon looks like a 'schoolchildren' thing which shows just how deeply routed this 'craze' is. I don't mean to undermine or make light of the seriousness of it, but it does seem to be that. These aren't drug importers or Mafiosa killing one another, these are kids. Not long ago mugging and 'happy slapping' were somewhat of a 'craze' and as always, it's escalated and become normalised. It's unbelievably awful and tragic but when you have a city as overpopulated as London, rammed full of different cultures with many of those coming from poverty if not near it, a Mayor more hellbent on extorting the population's motorists than doing anything to improve the state of the city and a further depleting to almost non existent level of policing, it hardly comes as a shock anymore.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

It's racist to do stop and search these days. My mother gets of at west Croydon and works in the whitgift I fear for her every day. I'm black and I want stop and search implemented. If I was stopped and searched, I'd have no problem with it. All under 25s of any race should be stopped and searched IMO

I had a large extended family in the area, going back several generations, practically all of them have left - primarily because of the negative effects of demographic changes.

It is good to hear and let’s be honest, whilst the majority of knife crime appears to be carried out by black youths, it is not exclusive.

There isn't the police numbers to support a full stop and search initiative but I think the threat of a stop and search + appropriate punishment (15 years+) for being caught with a knife/weapon would be enough of a deterrant, certainly an improvement on the current situation anyway!
