Or... there is more money there to be spent over the coming days and the Henderson deal was just the first available one to complete. Plausible although as always a guessing game as to reality.

Now wouldn’t that be nice if it’s the case.

A lot of emotion on this thread reading through, and I understand as to why. I think it's somewhat ridiculous to deny a football fan a good moan, or an expression of desire for more/better. Sort of the point of the whole thing.

I agree now would be a great time to kick on giving we feel close to having a very good team being just a few players off. I think most on here and who darken the terraces at Selhurst are quite aligned on what the team needs and what we'd like to see regarding the stadium. It does seem somewhat futile however to vent a spleen because this does not come to pass, although again I deny nobody that right.

The transfer window being open, but lack of incomings when they're needed, and a rickety old stadium seemingly forever under promise of improvement but no real movement, can always provide the foundation for a massive tirade of vitriol unless you're winning every week. Over the course of years and seasons however, we have improved massively. I'm still getting over us not being relegated the first season back in Prem.

We've gone from being a Championship club on the brink of relegation and possibly worse, to a PL club able to survive a few seasons, to a reasonably comfortable mid table side dreaming of Europe. It's slow, and sometimes painful, however I'm guessing that which does not make sense to me can be explained through the complete lack of knowledge on running a football club. I think Parish and others have erred far more towards avoiding complete catastrophe, such as relegation, than toward the risk of possibly doing something quite fantastic in the short term but equally possibly, crashing dramatically. Either that or they just flat out cannot see what seems so obvious to us all and despite the sustained success are actually 'the bad guys' in all this.

I'm hardly Parish's biggest admirer but I think his overseeing of the club's affairs is far more prosperous and sustainable than the whims of any fan. I'd love to see a new Selhurst Park for 24/25, and end the transfer window with Henderson, two new full backs, two new wingers and a striker. If that does not happen, I'll try to keep my mind open as to why and at the very least not raise my own blood pressure to dangerous levels with 'we should ofs' and 'it's all the fault of x, y and z'.

Also, try not to have a go at each other too much gents, it's a Bank Holiday Weekend and we got a good draw vs Brentford! I say that with no virtue however as I have to say the same thing to myself often, and sometimes to little effect.

A pleasingly optimistic take on things. As usual with Palace it's the hope that kills you. Or maybe SP has found £100m down the back of the sofa and is about to unleash, well, maybe not the dogs of transfer war but possibly the puppies of discontent.

It's an excellent post.

Parish and Palace in general are too 'woke' as a club but that's the whole establishment today so it's hardly unexpected. As a custodian I think Parish has been magic for Palace, not forgetting his partners. And Freedman of course has been involved in making transfers happen that have been vital in making this club successful.

People too readily forget just how close we were to going out of business....and once we recovered people forget just how middle tier we were in terms of what we could offer players for wages in the Championship.....Then getting promoted was a high wire act....and staying up and being mid table is a success story compared to so many other clubs.

To be where we are, with the players we have.....it's still amazing considering it feels like only yesterday that we were talking about Jermaine Easter.

Indeed Stirling. For a far shorter post from me:

Short Term: FFS/buy some player/stadium etc!!!
Long Term: We've done/are doing marvellously.

Personally I would rather be cautions than end up like we did before 2010. I really believe we have come a long way and very slowly but surely building a sound base. We have IMO the best squad of players we have ever had in the PL and we are still adding. The academy will produce but we must be patient, I'd much rather have SP & co than those in charge of Everton!!!

Hear Hear! That sums up our reality, everybody else - stop whinging!

Parish and his fellow board members and also Dougie play their cards very close to their chests. No one has got a clear picture of what is going on exactly which is what creates such a lively discussion on here.
However, if you listen to Roy, he is complimentary about the set up and it would appear there is some sort of harmony amongst them all.
Parish is a die hard Palace fan and has and continues to do a great job in steering the club in the right direction.
As Roy says, and I agree, the transfer world is very hazardous and he would far rather manage the playing side of things.
Even if we fail to bring any more players in, we have got a good squad who, barring a total calamity, are a solid mid table standard and wiith Roy as manager we are well placed generally to be stable and hold our own.
Once Olise is back and Franca fit who knows what they could do. And getting really optimistic there is always hope value that Ferguson might just get fit.
Parish is a safe pair of hands (with a fair share of luck) and somehow or another he has pulled in some interesting and in two cases very wealthy fellow shareholders to keep us going. Regardless of the suits and the hair, he is red and blue through and through and doing what he can to make us grow. And overall, he is making a bloody good job of it.

That's my tuppence halfpenny of thoughts anyway.
