The most important signing of the summer!

I imagine this was a combination of a huge pay bump, the fact he's guaranteed to start when fit and a release clause that means if he continues to develop he'll have no problems making the step up in a year or two to a properly big club rather than one that just buys trophies. He seems settled, he's mates with Eze and he was playing some great football last season. A sensible decision I think.

Hooray!

Consider this: if MO has stated internally that he would like to move to Chelsea, then perhaps Parish had a quiet word with him and his agent along the lines of "Look boys, if you want to leave, how about we sign a new contract and you go to Chelsea for £100 million release clause...think of the higher percentage cut you'll get out of a deal..."

If we got that sort of money, then to be honest I wouldn’t give a damn if he went. He is replaceable especially if you’ve got that sort of cash to play with.

Well I wonder whether the supposed signing of Hall from Chelsea and now probably going to Newcastle had anything to do with this...a strange one...I also think Olise would have realised that if he went to Chelsea he wouldn’t play regularly... the amount of players they are buying is INSANE...

Except at £35m Olise is pocket change for Chelsea. £100m is a very different story.

You don’t buy an injured player for £100 million! At £35 million it was already a big risk. I guess Olise wanted the bigger pay deal secured just in case the injury proves really seriously career threatening. He could have got that from Chelsea too. Now, so long as he gets full fitness back and continues his progress, he will soon become a target again but hopefully at a price which suits us too. If he doesn’t he will still be a very wealthy young man.

This is great news and leaves a few folks who have been very vocal with eggon their faces.

But what is Olise wearing in that photo? I am sure it was very expensive but looks slightly 'unusual,' even by footballer standards.

I wonder what the new release clause is?.

We need to unretire "he's just too good for you" when we next play that filth

Welcome news. Often the media doesn't tell the truth, but does wield tremendous power in its ability to fool the gullible.
BS merchants have their 15 minutes of fame before slinking back under the rock they crawled out from.

Fantastic news. Has it got a release clause?

I'm guessing a health signing on fee as well as a huge wage hike was probably a trade off in wiping any future release clauses.
Lets face it, since the Saudi money came into play and Boehly started turning on the cash taps no one can predict how much Olise will be worth in a month's time never mind a year!
Because of this no club can reasonably agree to a release clause ever again.

Well it seems the fat lady kept quiet in the end!

With it starting to sound like a done deal in the media, I'd already become resigned to the belief that Michael had gone and begun to accept he wouldn't be back, so today's news feels a bit like a new signing. It would've been very difficult to replace him this late in the window, so it's brilliant news for the club and all of us fans that he's staying. Besides, Chelsea are below us in the league now just as they were last season, so we shouldn't be too surprised really.

Maybe Doucoure’s off to Liverpool and they thought they’d better try a bit harder to keep Olise to keep us all onside

Okay, I’ll shut up
