And when Guehi is sold we will replace him with Tompkins. Benteke was let go on the eve of last season and never replaced.
If Wilf goes, step forward Jordan Ayew !

Why not complain when it happens rather than trying to predict the future

The last paragraph isn't rubbish and Fulham, Brighton and Brentford certainly have not had 11, count them !, years of Premiership resources !!
Further, I am not, examining Wilf's value and ability as a player, just that using Benteke as example, to which could be added Conor Gallagher too, Mr Parish's perennial desire to do transfer windows on the cheap, does not fill me with a great deal of confidence in the likelihood of these players being properly replaced as and when required.

I don’t agree with much of this. I look at Olise, Eze, Guehi, Andersen, Doucoure, Richard’s and think I’d rather have them than some of the donkeys other teams have spent a lot of money on. I don’t equate an inflated transfer price with quality and reckon this was decent business. Jefferson Lerma, so far this window, is excellent business. That we had a manager who couldn’t get much of a tune out of them last season is hardly reflective of the quality of the squad.
Should Parish spend £80m or whatever it was on Harry Maguire?

If not them who would you have bought and what would you have done to signal your ambition? Everton have spent half a billion quid in the last 6 or so years. How’s that worked for them?

Guehi replaced Tomkins - as he was already here. That he has signed a new contract is simply depth of squad, surely?

I never referred to your last paragraph, and so never called that paragraph "laughable". I highlighted your statement about our current incoming business and clearly referred to that in my comment, and would say again that it is laughable to suggest just 3 days into a two and half month transfer window that our incoming business is finished.

I think many of the people on here complaining about parish; never went to a cold boundary park Oldham in the 80s. People that did would appreciate these good times.

Well tbh that sort of is where most fans are at. It’s a hobby and a life’s love. I’m not sure if you are aware but most fans deep down don’t really give a s hit about the division they are in. As long as they get their palace fix good or bad. If that’s an alien concept to your thought process you need to move up norf. We bleed red and blue; good or bad. Sort of been there done that; sunshine , rain and snow. Get with the game mate and try to feel the club, not the publicity or kudos. You support the wrong one if you can’t tbh !!!

Sadly I do remember rainy nights in Grimsby with the North sea at our backs watching what could be at best described as 'journeymen' toiling in the name of the club.

But I do also wonder if something is amiss at the club.

For every great young player we do sign and the current crop dazzle we seem to also either ignore a key position failing to address a problem or replace someone.

Not sure for example offering new contracts to Tompkins Clyne and Ward however great they have been is building a foundation upon which the future can be built.

Equally I worry that the vanity project that is The Parish Stand has left us skint.

Why is it Parish fault when you have other owners who aren't willing to invest a lot in the club? Harris and Blitzer can decide not to spend and Parish has no authority over that. Yes Parish is not perfect but the blame cannot be solely put at his direction.

Credit to Palace though for buying players like Guehi (loan championship) Olise and Eze from the Championship and all have done well. The strategy seems to be clear either get players through from the academy: AWB, Mitchell and possibly future players e.g. Ozoh, Rak Sakyi etc.. Additionally buy players from the Championship also looks to be another strategy. Palace operate differently to other clubs they cannot spend £200m over 2 seasons they rely on another methods like mentioned above. 10 years in the EPL is no joke with a limited budget. I wonder if teams like Brentford, Fulham can stay in the EPL for 10 years? Look what happened to Leicester, Leeds and Southampton this year. I heard people say before getting relegated won't be a bad thing. That is absurd that is the last place any club wants to go.

For me, I'm happy with staying up every season, look at the championship it's full of failed premiership clubs and with some clubs going into administration Wigan ect.

One season we will do a Leicester (win the prem) or have a good run in Europe I'm convinced of that just need a bit of luck

Textor clearly wants to invest the other clowns don’t. Parish included. Parish has to get in the way of everything yes his saved our club doesn’t mean he is exempt to criticism

I can remember standing on the freezing terrace at Burnden Park, must have been about 1980, about 200 Palace fans in one pen, and the Bolton Fans singing, "youre gonna get your F*****G head kicked in" Happy days
