He has rarely started games for us and for periods hasn't even made the bench. I would have thought, as the years quickly pass by, that he would want to be playing football, even if it is not at the top level.

It is Parishes mixture of business, and football knowledge that has kept Palace in this league, yes we could always do with more investment but only if it goes hand in glove with real down to earth football know how, because without that we could so easily still come unstuck. We are not mega rich. We can't just pay from petty cash eg local authority 106 terms. We are principled. When sainsburys try to extract vast sums from their ranson we hold out as long as they do. We are not surrounded by friends. Unlike say liverpool our immediate neighbours are probably not fans and are more likely to block development than support it

If you don't improve, you go down (see Southampton, Leicester, Leeds) or risk going down (see Everton, Wet Spam). Compare the quality of our current squad to the newly promoted one of 10 years ago and it's way better, with the same result: finishing in the 3rd quarter of the Prem, some seasons flirting with relegation, others flirting with Europe. As others in this thread have said, without huge external investment, that's our lot. I'm more than happy with it. I think some forget this is the best we have EVER been.

A few interesting things in this [Link] that might go under the radar... 1. We've signed Eze's brother Chimaechi Eze on a 1-year deal (hopefully not Jonathan Benteke Mk2). Really glad Phillips is sticking around. I think he'll get a year in the Championship and then hopefully he'll ready to step up for us the season after. If Balmer could progress he'd be great just because of his huge throw. I don't remember us ever having someone with a really long throw?

Agreed, Phillips is a real hope, Imray could be ready for RB 24/25, and Mooney is a very exciting prospect

If I remember correctly, and there is a high possibility I do not, didn’t Danny Butterfield give it a go but with limited success? I also seem to recall Dean Moxey being capable of launching a ball in from a throw? May just be time for my medication.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Ian Hutchinson used to get all the headlines but Bobby Woodruff was just as effective. Taking offside out of the picture is a useful weapon as Rory Delap showed for years.

There was a kid, Richard Harris, around 2000, who could throw it into the box from almost halfway. Trouble was he couldn’t do much else and after a few throws his arms got tired.
