AI, shouldn't it be AT? Artificial Truth? We have enough of that already, this can needs kicking, even its creators are warning us.

I'm sure some of you already follow the Why files on Youtube, if you don't you're in for a treat, it's one of the best channels about & pretty much guarantees a wild ride into all manner of subjects. This one is about Artificial intelligence. For me as terrifying as watching the movie Threads for the first time.
The mountains are calling & I must go. |

computers do not think - they process, they don't choose words, they obey programs to use word based on the frequency of their use - to appear more interesting they choose a more obscure word. It is widely accepted in the scientific community that consciousness cannot be downloaded into a computer - thinking is more than just electrical patterns, and memory in the brain is not locatable, unlike in a computer. Don't listen to me though listen to Noam Chomsky or Christof Koch. This AI stuff is a scare story aimed at hooking people into related issues. In other words, it's bullsh*t.

It's a tool like a knife in the hands of a chef or the hands of a murderer.

The technology of human automation is developing quite fast. It won't be long before we see more robotic usage within societies.....Though it'll be a long time till cost makes it like buying a car for us plebs.....if us plebs will be allowed to access it. Obviously, the military aspect is scary along with drones and chemical/nuclear/virus research. [Tweet Link]

[Tweet Link] I told all my colleagues at the Putting Coloured Blocks into Trays factory they'd be coming for our jobs and now look! In all sincerity it's both intriguing and terrifying. I think what bothers me most is that it's being done for the sake of doing it, unless there's any real plan in place for them? You can see it as either the development of technology for us to narcissistically marvel at or of the most advanced weaponry we'll possibly ever know, capable of eradicating our species. See Badger's earlier post.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

See Badger's earlier post. Yep, fascinating and terrifying. Something that Musk himself acknowledges. Some might correctly consider it as digging our own graves....along the logic of any new technology is taken advantage of for both good and negative purposes and there's no way of stopping that.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

Computers are an input/processes/output system. Essentially that's what all cells do and hence what all living animals do. In my view it's not that important whether a computer is sentient or not (we don't even really know much about what brings consciousness about). All that matters is what the end result is.

Good and bad as I mentioned earlier. On the plus side I can see a day in the not too distant future where people who are in wheelchairs will be able to walk using exoskeletons. That same technology should also help workers who do heavy lifting e.g. construction or warehouse work so reducing injuries, assuming that robots haven't completely replaced people. As for AI I can see a lot of people who like to work from home and do "Quiet Quitting" getting their wish. If I was an employer and technology meant I could reduce my workforce I know whose first on the list to go.
