At some time we've got to get the succession right. I'd prefer Cooper, but he hasn't resigned, and Forest are still in the PL. of those available, he looks like he ticks quite a few boxes. Good PL experience and laid the foundations for a good Brighton team. The other option would be Roy mentoring Paddy to take over after a season....but I think Pqddy would be plunged in to the deep end far too soon. Difficult choices. It didn't work out with de Boer or Patrick. Let's hope Parish gets the choices right 🤞 I think Roy has already indicated that the “mentoring” role is a complete non starter. Who makes the decisions? As Roy said Paddy for example takes training and Roy overseas…Roy thinks I could do this better myself….why wouldn’t he.

Let’s just get this done quickly and get ahead of the game with new signings and pre-season.

Potter would be a cracking appointment in my opinion,we should get this done. Played some great stuff at Brighton.

I think what Jordan said was right. De Zerbi did benefit a lot from Potter (his style of play and players) that helped him do so well with Brighton. Potter at Chelsea was always going to be a disaster due to expectations and him not dealing with huge superstars. Palace's next aim is probably to become an established top 10 side i.e. finish top 10 every season which is something that is more than do able if Palace buy a new RB, midfielder, winger to replace Zaha and striker who gets over 13 goals a season minimum. Potter can achieve top 10 every season if the right players are bought in. So is that a minimum of 14 goals then? This would be a rare event for this club. As far as I'm aware, it's only happened 5 times in the 'top flight'. Wright (Div 1), Bright (Div 1), Armstrong (PL), Johnson (PL), Benteke (PL).
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

In complete agreement although I would like to see some transitional managerial overplay work with Hodgson as well following Potter's bruising experience at Chelsea. Potter built a team ethic at Brighton that at the time was precisely the club to align ourselves to in terms of realistic progressive steps to adopt. Potter has that blueprint model of delivery to take Palace forward. As for Hodgson in the long run? Is Honorary President Of CPFC really that far flung a working suggestion? We need to keep him close to the club (as Palace is to his heart and how he has rescued our Prem.survival) as rebuild continues. What do others think?

With all due respect ST, and acknowledging you are only the latest of many to propose this idea, has this actually happened anywhere, ever? It’s continually discussed as though it’s commonplace let alone viable. Hodgson and Potter two very different managers so at the very least I’d expect that to be a problem let alone the fact that one may not take or be impressed coming into a job where they are overseen by their predecessor. Genuine questions as I am intrigued so if ‘Y’ I’m surprised I’ve missed it and if ‘no’ why on earth is it continually put forward?
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I hope Roy is given a club life president job at Palace, should we give Roy another year we will be back to square one at the end of next season. As for Wilf, guess it's a case of wait and see,but as others have said we should give him a deadline to decide as we can't wait for ever.

Didn't SAF do that when Moyes was appointed manager of manure, or did it just seem that way?
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |
